When did the matching patch start? And did it also include the leather case?I'm inclined to say that is a "B", not a "D" due to the lack of the Gillette Diamond on the base plate. "B704463" places it in the 1911 range, which does in fact match the case. In 1913 the Silver sets would have had a patch with silver, not gold accents.
Great set.
I am far from an expert as most of what I know came from this site. The "L" stamp in addition to the A833304 serial number means it is a 1909 razor that was repaired. The A833304 is the primary number and the L25510 is the second number, added later. I have read some of the letters that were sent back to owners with the repaired razor. Remember, many of these were quite expensive.I have an ABC razor. I've always assumed the letter on dating an ABC razor is the same as dating a Gillette razor. Is that correct?
My ABC is L25510. What year was it made? Years ago I came up with 1909, but I don't remember how I arrived at that date.
The safety bar has a second number: Hard to see, but I think it's A833304.
My pattern in "The Scroll." The metal is silver. There is no Gillette symbol.
Can one of our ABC experts clarify what date my razor is? Much obliged!
And why are there 2 serial numbers?
From what I have read, the matching patch began in approximately 1913. Looking at old ads, the 505 was offered with a triple plated silver razor only in 1910(perhaps the first year offered). The 505 is not included in the 1909 catalogue. When did the matching patch start? And did it also include the leather case?

This means the 505 will have a gold patch in 1910, 1911, and 1912. 1913 is when the silver patch begins to show up, matching the contents of the case. It should also be noted that the 505 is not shown in the 1914-1919 catalogues, nor is the Gun Metal case for any of the PE sets.
I have a ABC razor that I'm looking to get a date on it. if you have any info on it that would be awesome.
