The shinynees is what I'm worried about. I'm pretty sure the thread scars would go away with a little time. I might try it on my newer one, with less wear, first to see how that looks.

I've seen a few after the velcro was removed and it was pretty obvious. I'd be really hesitant to do it, but you could always put them back on if it looks bad. I know I'll be torn between wearing some replacement patches (USAF Ret., or something like that) or pulling the velcro when I retire. I have more than a few years to worry about that, though.
