I began shaving with a double edge safety razor back in high school which was nearly a decade ago. When I first started I purchased a Merkur Classic a Vulfix brush and a pack of Feather blades. I used the same razor, brush, and blades up until a few months ago. I live under the idea of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Well boy have I been missing out. I recently broke down and purchased a variety pack of blades and have loved using the different blade with different vintage razors. I have been amazed at how each blade shaves so different. Some good some not so good. Feather will always be my first but variety is exciting. I cant wait to start experimenting with vintage blades soon. For all of you beginners don't make the same mistake I did. Purchase a variety pack of blades and enjoy the world of wet shaving there is nothing like it!!
