A thick beard does not necessarily grow long quickly?

Hi,

I just wanted to confirm this, because I think I have a thick beard (thick hair so I guess it follows), but I don't grow a long beard that quickly.

Is this reasonable or even often the case?

I think average facial hair grows only 6 inches per year. That is not very fast in reality. That is only 16/1000's of an inch per day.
