A Tech with a hollow handle?

I've to ID a Tech with a hollow handle (like the Psycho but is not a Psycho). It's made in England and looks like the follow link http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/1940s French Tech.jpg

Could some expert help me? Some pics:

Is the hole in the end of the handle perfectly centered? It looks like the hole in the end is off center in the fourth picture, as if the metal is thicker at the top right.
Is the end of the hollow handle threaded?

Yes, the hole is prefetly centered. I don't understand "thicker" .

If threaded means that you are asking if is the hole from end to end, yes it is.

The handle with the hole weigts 35 grams and the other 25.

Pics: the extrange Tech is in the rigth too:

Me too. Maybe can be a customized handle.

I'd like to know the Achim's opinion or the other guy that knows a lot about de vintage Gillettes, Guigo?

If someone has some more idea, feel free to tell us.

My first thought (and I could be vastly off base) was that one of the previous owners used a saw of some sort to cut the end off of a standard Fat handle. In the photos, the center hole thus produced looks a bit off center, which would seem to support this theory.

Thaks for your opinion. I agree with you but the mistery is that the handle with the hole is haevier that the normal, that doesn't make sense... The hole is a little off-center as well.

Seriously, that's gotta be like Tom Hanks in the Movie "Big" - You know, a kid with a job as a toy manufacturer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are tedious things that have to be done, but - C'mon, totally surrounded by shaving goodies. :001_tt1:

Yep, cleaning the glass counter/showcase top constantly. I build so many bowls of lather every day to show folks how its done and of coarse there's the splatter....Gotta keep the glass sparkling so you can see all the pretty shiny razors....:001_smile

Are you sure it's not a psycho? The inside looks threaded in the last photo.

It's not. There's a couple giveaways there with the biggest being that it's stamped with the the Gillette logo, which Psychos aren't. The consensus there is that Gillette likely didn't want to be associated with mental hospitals and prisons where Psychos were used hence Psychos are only visibly stamped on the outside with a date code, nothing more.

Here is one from 1973 (T4) with Gillette Logo:

I think it's been doctored....FWIW I cut a early 50's fat handle in half...(don't ask!) and it is hollow. Roughly 1/4 in. hollow either from a casting process or when they drill and tap the hole for attaching the handle.
