I just had to share with everyone.... My newest addition... This is a gorgeous little sliver of a Nakayama Kiita with crazy reddish hues throughout the body of the stone. Top surface is pure kiita and in about 10 years of lapping I'll get to that pink stuff to see what it feels like to hon on! The stone is about 7.5X1.5".
The reason I bought this stone was obviously because of it's striking appearance but also the weight the name and stamps hold. It's also considerably softer than my Ozuku (5+) and softer than my Wakasa tomo 4+/5ish stone. I'd put this stone around a 4 for hardness. Honing on it feels like silk and it's beautifully fast with slurry. Honing an old sheffield wedge caused the slurry to turn a greenish yellow colour due to the steel being removed. A wonderfully hazy edge is imparted.
