A Rudy Vey Brush Restore!

Rudy, I hope you don't mind me posting this! I'm excited to have the brush back, and everyone loves pics...

When I went home this summer I had a chance to visit with my grandparents. My grandfather is almost 90, and he strictly uses an electric razor now... I started showing him some of my shaving gear and telling him about the different types of brushes. My grandmother over heard and thought she knew of an old brush hidden some where. When they came over the next day she handed me my grandfathers old brush!

I wanted to get it re-knotted, but I didn't trust myself with this one. So I called on the expert Rudy Vey. Excellent communication, packaging, everything!:thumbup1:

It's a 22mm Finest knot. Anyway, less talk, more pictures..

I was planning on giving it a good polish. But I think I'm going to leave it, and use it, just like this!

What a wonderful job with the restore and you get to use your grandfather's brush. Thats great. I'm sure you are glad you did it.

What a sweet looking brush! I wouldn`t polish it either it has a fantastic and authentic patina that can only come from use and age, the new knot looks fine as well. Rudy seems to do very good work on his brushes and restorations.

I wouldn't do a thing to it -- it looks great as is. And since it was your grandfather's, there's a lot to honor and remember in every little nick and mark on it. What a great thing to have ...

Thanks guys, I'm going to give it a spin today, and I'll snap some pics after it's bloomed

Make sure to post pics! You won't be disappointed, Rudy does awesome work.

Did you shoot any pix in the process? I'd love to see those as well.

I don't have any... I'm not sure if Rudy took any pics or not?

Exactly. Enjoy the next 90 years.

Thanks for posting this. I got into wet shaving one day while standing at Walmarts checking out and I looked over and saw the shave ailse full of stuff but for some reason I zeroed in on the Williams shave soap and the Burma brush. Like an ephiphany it hit me - I suddenly remembered all of those times when I watched my grandfather shave with a straight, his mug and brush. My grandfather passed away in 1979, but when I recently followed up with my aunts no one knows where his shaving gear went. That was one of my dreams was to use his gear. Mighty cool that you have that brush as a connection to your grandfather, cherrish it, its lovely.
