What's new

A Rare Site

So it took me 13 months of almost daily shaving and i finally did it. I reached the bottom of a bowl of Tabac.

I really like Tabac but I also really like the cost of wet shaving when you take AD out of the question so I am looking for ONE new soap for the year. Thats right folks I am a one soap guy (other than the few that I have tried and not liked, check the BST if you want to pick those up.)

So far Tabac is the only soap I have tried and liked, smell & lather. The others I have tried and not liked were

Col Conk
Palmolive Shave Stick (Euro Version)
VDH
C O Bigelow Cream.

Let me know what you think I should get next.

I am a big fan of MWF and most French shea butter soaps I guess my favorite of the moment is Pre De Provonce, but Cade, Provence Sante, and Institut Karite are all top notch as well.

Very cool, man. You did it! I can only dream of one day actually getting to see the bottom of that bowl. You could consider Irisch Moos, cousin to Tabac. I'll second a shea butter soap like Provence Sante, though I think the Verlaine scent is a bit much for daily use. Something more neutral would be better.

If I were in your shoes I might have to go with the Irish Moos. Never tried it but the say it lathers like Tabac with a different smell.

I had been thinking that Pre de Provence was next. Never considered Irish Moos. D R Harris has been calling my name as well.

I could definitely shave with nothing but Pre de Provence for a whole year. It's a really lovely soap, and probably my favorite of the French varieties (though I've not tried Martin de Candre). MWF wouldn't be a problem to use for a whole year either.

You'll have soap for thE next couple of years, or more!

If you want to try a soft soap give Cella a try. You won't be disappointed.

All great suggestions. I would go with a brick of P. 160 myself, as I honestly believe that this is my one soap for a lifetime.
