What's new

A PBS Night.

Hello all, last night a program about Henry Ford and his rise from the farm to America's greatest businessman aired. It got me to wondering if Mr. Ford was a Gillette man, a GEM man or a straight shave man. Then came out the whole nostalgic thoughts of what it would have been like to grow up in that era, where cars were built to last, razors were made to stand the test of time, and the railroad was the main transport from one side of the country to the other.... Boy it sure would have been nice to grow up then, at least from a shaving standpoint anyways LOL.

I'm betting he was a straight razor man. My great grandfather was of the same generation and used to get a barber shave everyday before work.

ah to live in an era where that was affordable, I have had one barber shave and it was amazing. Who would have thought a military barber would be good for more than a high and tight lol

Gentlemen, there is a tool both Henry Ford and Thomas Edison would have used: Google.

Henry Ford's specialized dermatologists offers patients of all ethnic heritages a comprehensive, personalized care plan designed specifically for the care of each patient's color, tone, and texture of skin and hair. Special services include treatment for skin resurfacing, skin discoloration, razor bumps, keloid scars...."

Henry Ford liked to wash his razor blades in rusty water because he believed that rust was fantastic as a hair restorative.

He was convinced that oilfield workers possessed uncommonly healthy heads of hair. As a result, he instructed his houseman to soak razor blades in kerosene and water in an effort to create a type of hair tonic.

It looks to me as if you can see his lathered shaving brush standing on its handle on the table here:
