Notes to today’s shave:

Having sorted out my razor rotation finally enables me to enjoy another Fatip Friday!! :001_wub:The joy of discovering this brand and subsequently getting the SE is simply beyond measure. Yeah, the plating is gone, alignment is an art, but it’s smooth, nimble, fast, compact, grippy - its everything I look for in a razor and I like the aesthetics of it all. Simply bliss.

I used the same brush as yesterday. I normally don’t do that to give the brush a chance to dry, but I wanted to test my lathering progress by making sure I squeezed the brush this time. The Omega loads fairly quickly. That worked amazingly well! Nice lather going and three passes worth of it. Getting there!

Awesome shave!

Enjoy your shave!

Notes to today’s shave:
I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this blade. Virtually no information to be found and even the Blade Biter did not have additional insights. So only thing we can do is shave with it.

The blade is smooth and comfortable and very mild. So mild perhaps that it is less effective in my beard. A smooth result after a three pass shave, but not BBS levels at all. I don’t know if it’s a one and done blade, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Lather was thinner today and still provided a very nice glide and protection.

Updated my pass direction table as my strokes in the sideburn area are straight horizontal WTG. And added more detail to the chin area.

Enjoy your shave today!

Second DE headshave. Went WTG and a little bit ATG. SAS is a fine result for where I am at. Took it to CCS/DFS level with my Philishave.

Notes to today’s shave:

My rotation schedule had my very first DE razor in store for me today. Being where I am on my journey this is the mildest razor I have by a stretch. It bites me when I use too much pressure. But I mean mild in terms of the number of passes to get a good shave results. For the KCG that number is usually four. But I did three today. The blade was toothless at times because of me getting the angle wrong. I still like this razor and would never part with it.

Lather! Lather was excellent today! Slick and thick. And I managed the good rich passes. I changed my setup somewhat. I raided the kitchen from one of its plastic bowls so I had more room for the brush than my Proraso mug can accommodate. That gave better ability to lather up. I think I need a bigger shaving bowl! The one from Pereira Shaving is the one I like the best - one for the wishlist.

Subsequent headshave using the same gear. Nice and smooth WTG one pass.

Enjoy your shave today!

Notes to today’s shave:

Another pleasant Mühle Monday with a new to me blade supplied by @lasta last year. The blade is more harsh than I expected in the first pass. Maybe the pairing with the R41 wasn’t the best decision. Subsequent passes are smoother however. Light irritation on the neck signalling that this blade might not be fit for my skin that much. And the R41 just shines no matter what - marble cheeks to boot. BOSC science dictates to use the blade again tomorrow to verify first conclusions. Just to be sure I did the headshave with my Philishave rather than the R41 and this blade.

Lather was thinner today and I noticed the T3 behaves differently from Omega Roma. Still considering if I need a bigger bowl or not for proper lathering. I had sufficient lather for three passes, but in the end all the good lather was sucked up in the brush. So need to work on that some more. One difference compared to yesterday is that I loaded less heavy. Need to take that into account tomorrow.

In the technique department I revisited my approach to my jaw line. I lifted my cheek and performed my WTG Gillette Slides accordingly. I think it made a slight difference in the first pass as I could have sworn I felt less stubble during rinsing between passes.

Enjoy your shave today!

Notes to today’s shave:

The blade definitely felt smoother compared to yesterday. It is not making my top 10, but it is a decent blade if you had to use it. It does provide great results for sure. The Ti95 feels smoother than the R41 but without sacrificing effectiveness. An absolute pleasure to use! :001_wub:

The Kox is the second cheapest brush I have and yet one of the most pleasant to use. It literally whipped Mike's into a nice and thick lather enough for four passes: three on my face and one head shave (which I again concluded with my Philishave). Using the Ti95 for a head shave definitely amps up the effectiveness.

Excellent combination today.

Enjoy your shave!

Notes to today’s shave:

It has been a while since I used this wonderful blade with all the Discovery Blade Adventures. The Matador is a splendid razor that could easily be someone’s daily driver. It is milder than the Swing in my opinion. I used a Gillette Fat Handle which makes the Matador super flexible and nimble to use. I almost wanted it around like a magic shaving wand!

I used the same brush as yesterday and loaded heavier as well. Wonderful thick and slick lather. Really happy with my progress here. A damp brush and slowly building lather by adding dips of water is the way to go with Mike’s and I am curious to see what happens with other soaps using this same approach.

I worked on detailing my directions table adding strokes regarding the jawline. I am somewhat inconsistent in results in that area so I want to pay more specific attention. Particularly the neck area right under the jawline is prone to be a terrible spot for me.

Great shave with a great razor.

Enjoy your shave today!

Notes to today’s shave:

I was really looking forward to this shave for quite a while, but other blade adventures kept the idea at bay. And I was not disappointed at all. Supersmooth and comfortable with the blade adapting to the razor in complete unison. Others have commented before that this blade sort of stays under the radar, but it is an amazing blade - at least to me - with great sharpness and despite the name perhaps good longevity. It also works for most of my razors and I can now add the Ti95 to that list. I think I had one slight weeper, but it disappeared between passes. Forgot the clean up ATG pass on my jawline so slight points deducted, but besides that a very smooth and comfortable BBS-ish result in three passes.

Lathering was splendid today as well. This JCinAP approach is really working for me with this soap. Nice thickness and glide today. The brush is the cheapest I have (I think it's only $9), but it just works. Period. Great lather, sufficient backbone and its smaller size make it very pleasurable while travelling (I have a real travel brush, but honestly - I might take this one with me instead).

Technique was consistent with prior shaves. Returning to the Gillette Slide was a very good decision for me and I also notice that my technique improved to the level that I can use the Gillette Slide with almost all my razors. I am still very cautious in using it in combination with the Razorine Flatboy due to the design of that razor (basically a shavette on a handle).

Enjoy your shave today!

Notes to today’s shave:

Only light stubble today after yesterday’s amazing shave with the Ti95, so fittingly my rotation scheme came up with the Gentile baseplate for another Fatip Friday. I have used this blade before in my Fatips so no surprises there. I had to fiddle with blade alignment but that’s part of this razor’s problem charm. The shave itself was absolutely wonderful. Superglide so much so I wondered if it was shaving at all. But three passes later I am smooth and clean.

Because of the lighter stubble I also went lighter on loading Mike’s. The Razorock is my Lather King so ging heavy today would producer lather east beyond what I need. I have been using a different lather bowl (well bowl yes but it’s from the kitchen so not exactly designed for shaving) for my wider/bigger brushes and must say it does work better than my usual Proraso bowl. It feels less like I am chiming bells at least. Smooth, gliding and post shave a nice feel.

Enjoy your shave today!

Notes to today’s shave:

Orginally I had planned to use my birth year Super Speed, but as we are approaching Vintage April I changed my rotation to fit both bills just a little better. I did realise that this will also mean my beloved Ti95 will remain idle for a month, so I doubled down for Modern May to make up for time lost :001_wub: .

The combination of the Flatboy and the G365 is usually a comfortable and effective one, but this morning I felt more harshness from the blade. Some light weepers were evidence to that feeling. So I backed down on the number of passes and went only very light touch ATG on my neck. The aftershave sting burn told me this was clearly an extremely close shave. So in the techniques departmen I did my Gillette Slides, but more or less only on the cheeks and I altered my neck strokes with less slanting. Also no skin pulling on the jaw line. The flat design of the Razorine is more effective without. I also found myself using a more shallow angle, in some places even fully riding the cap. Maybe that is the way to go as appears to be the case with the original Flatboy. Next time be more mindful of zero pressure.

Still building my enhanced lathering skills and it was a very good try this morning. Nice slick and thick lather providing the right amount of protection and glide. Post shave results were very pleasant as well and Mike's Magical Mystery ingredients made the weepers from the first pass disappear. Nice!

Enjoy your shave!

Notes to today’s shave:

What a wonderful Sunday shave today! In preparation for Vintage April I decided to give my modern razors more air time these last few days of March. I picked the Green Cult for today's stubble battle. But even with the G365 going on 5 shaves it was no battle at all. The GC2 mowed everything down in three easy and simple passes with no irritation, damage or whatsoever. Exfoliation as a bonus and I ended up with just a tad under marble here and there, but cheeks are extremely soft this morning. I am wondering what level III can bring and curious/scared to try out the GC1 next year.

Lather was very good as well. Loaded the T3 short but firmly and using my newly acquired lathering skills I made a very nice slick lather. Sufficient for three passes and excellent protection from razor and blade.

Every part of the gear was just performing at its best today for the perfect Sunday shave!

Enjoy your shave!

Notes to today’s shave:

The Ti95 and blade performed very well together on a 6th run for the G365. Very smooth and comfortable with a weeper on the upperlip through operator error by going too ATG in the slant on the second pass. It stopped without alum through the rinse with left over lather at the end of the shave.

Lathering was the struggle point for this morning as my and my boar arm wrestled for who was entitled to the lather: him or me. I reloaded after the first pass and had two decent passes after that. There is a dent appearing in my Mike’s from all this loading (I am usually a lighter loader), but so far so good. I already managed to get good lather with my badger so this boar is the last one standing.

Enjoy your shave.

Two and a half pass pattern is different - I use this primarily when I am in a time squeeze, whenever I am using my Razorine Flatboy (not always, but I think it generally fits this pattern better), or just wanna mix things up.
