A great barber is hard to find

I stopped by my neighborhood barber to get my neck line upgraded from mullet status. And found out he had been robbed and had his 100+ year old barber chairs slashed! I hadn't been in for a while (semi-mullet). He told me a local leather worker heard the story, and reupholstered the chair for free. It's looks great and he's not leaving the neighborhood. Thought i'd share a story of one of the old barbers still fighting off the rif raf and still my favorite barber. He's in a tough part of town and gives homeless cuts at a discount. (pay what you can, to an extent). He will always get my buisness, and he got an extra big tip today.

P.S He still pulls out the straight razor to finish up the neck line and brushes if off with talc and a big old brush.

Sorry to hear about the robbery and vandalism. Glad to hear of his professionalism. He must be a man of great integrity. Thanks for sharing this story.

Glad to hear that he was able to get his chairs fixed at minimal cost.

I always enjoy the straight razor to the neck followed up with the talk brushing. My barber does that too.

Wow. Who does that to a barber? They don't have enough trouble dealing with annoying laws and salons' stealing all their business? And he is working to keep the homeless cleaned up so they can apply for jobs? Why not go kick down a church door and steal their tithe box? Geez.
I am glad to hear he got the chairs fixed, that is awesome and that vendor deserves any business it might get from this charity. And this guy sounds like an awesome barber, I hope he can get replacement tools quickly. It is sad that the person/people that did that might never actually be caught if they are truly some of the homeless that congregate there.

A shame my 1000th post has to go on such a sad moment, but i want to post it :)

It makes you wonder what lowlife would do this to an old (old to me) man. Its his lively hood and job in a highly competitive business. The fact hes practically cutting homeless people hair for next to nothing just shows this mans character. I hope the police manage to recover this mans equipment. I wonder if he has regular customers who could chip in to try and get him back on his feet. The people who done it should get fined and some sort of correctional sentence, what if the man had been in the store at the time?

I hope this ends ok for the gentleman. Sick world.

Rant over :)

Great story. I've been looking for a good barber in town that gives great shaves. I might have to give him a try!

Glad it turned out well. I also agree that good barbers are hard to find. I live in the Scottsdale area so everything is an over-the-top salon. My wife and daughters love it but I refuse. I have to drive 35 minutes to get a decent taper. Still on the lookout for a great barber.

P.S. If anyone from AZ knows of a good barber within 45 minutes of DC Ranch please let me know.

When you've found a really good barber, its worth the time and effort to stick with him, (or her). Sorry for his bad luck, and I hope they catch the b$@#*^)!(. :a32: :censored: :behead:
