A good shaving cream without a masculine scent?

I am wondering what you would recommend with regards to shaving creams for a woman who do enjoy nice scents but does not want a shaving cream that smells like she has borrowed it from her boyfriend or father?

I am partial to scents like lime, bergamot and everything citrus, really, but it is a hard scent to order online since there's so many that just smell like cough drops or, worse, cleaning supplies.

I also like the sweetness of real coconut, but I do know that refined coconut oil (as opposed to virgin) can break you out if you are breakout prone, which I am.

Of course, as a woman, I'm often recommended flower smells but I'm seldom attracted to them because they seldom smell like the flowers in my garden. The only rose smell I really could sniff all day is the one of my The Pilgrim in my garden which is a sweet vanilla/citrus scent. Not classical rose at all. If someone could ever replicate that scent it would be my all time favourite.

So, with this in mind, what would you recommend?

Not a lime fan myself, but Geo F Trumper makes a good cream and it's available in lime, violet, rose. A lot of guys like the scents so there probably not too girly. TOBS makes a rose that is popular.

I would suggest trying some samples first. Cheap way to avoid 20 tubs of excellent creams sitting around causing a daily conundrum.

Taylor of Old Bond Street "Lemon & Lime" shaving cream.
Hard to beat both on price and performance.

Kind regards,
Bart.

My fiance uses the Cryil Salter Sublime Citrus cream. I ordered it for myself but decided it smelled too girly but she loves it.

+1

Salter smells heavenly. I had a sample of the Sublime Citrus, and it honestly smelled good enough to eat.

The Fresh Mint smelled exactly like mint ice cream. Yum!! :001_tt2:

I like Cremo, myself- clean and citrus-y, and pretty unisex. I guess they have a specific ladies' version now, too. Kiss My Face also has a lot of really nice scents.

There is nothing gender specific about a lime- a very neutral fragrance. T & H makes a very nice lime cream. The scent does not linger past the shave and it is easy to lather and does a good job.

The Kiss My Face Lavender is in the shower, my wife appropriated that one. The KMF Lime is disappointing as it does not seem to even smell at all of lime.

I would stay away from the Speick, Proraso and the Tabac products because they do have somewhat masculine scents.

Thank you everyone, now at least I know where to start, and more specifically what samples to request. It is rather overwhelming, going into an online shaving supplies store, and be greeted by all those brands and scents. :001_smile

I also think Watercress & Aloe from Prairie Creations is a very nice scent.

From Krissy's site:
Watercress & Aloe : A unique blend beginning with subtle top notes of lemon rind and fresh palm leaves, followed by fresh watercress and aloe notes and finishing with jasmine and eucalyptus.

Fit for a queen, I'd say :)

If you're willing to look at soaps, Mama Bear's Roses is the closest I have found to sticking your nose in a rose.

Since you like citrus, her Bergamot, Neroli, and Lime EO soaps are probably also worth a shot.

I've looked at Mama Bear soaps, but they are sold out at the traditional shaving company and I don't know of any other place within EU that sells them. I prefer not to order from outside of EU, because of 25% taxes.

Right now, in the shopping cart I am toying with I have:
SCS Honeysuckle Shaving Cream (one of few florals I like, if it is true to the real thing).
Cyril. R. Salter Essential Lime Luxury Shaving Cream
TOBS Avocado Shaving cream (afraid the Jermyn Street sounds a bit too masculine in the scent description, since it is a fougère kind of scent.)

I also threw in a Colonel Conk shaving soap in Almond since I plan to experiment with super lather (though I am thinking hard about amber). And of course, shaving blades, one package of each sort they offer. :D

TOBS avocado is a different scent that can take some getting used to. That said, my wife loves the TOBS Rose and Lavender.

Wow, I can't believe nobody mentioned Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn

I have a sample of it (and sandalwood, though that is going to my father). It has a really lovely, gentle scent reminding me somehow of cloudberries. Though, the scent is so very gentle that it is not more than a faint trace when I shave with it.

As for the TOBS Avocado, I've heard it described like a melony/cucumber/green kind of scent which sounds rather inoffensive.
