What's new

A gift from the past

Just wanted to share this with you all. As I know many of you love anything to do with shaving. Today my great aunt gave me her straight razor, or replaceable straight razor with some boxes of blades. She use to have a beauty shop many years a go. And she would use it to clean up th neck and ear area. And this afternoon she said she would like to give me something. It's all stainless and pretty light. I'm just not sure how to use it, I guess I use it to shave my arms till I'm brave enough to try on my face. Lol. Just wanted to share that with y'all, because it pretty much gave me a smile today !!!
Thanks
M.L.

It's nice to have something from the family that has been passed down.
You folks that have things from parents or grandparents just don't know how lucky you are, and how much I envy you!

Often, a straight with replaceable blades can be called a Shavette. These are still used widely today in barbershops to give a 'straight razor shave'. As the blades are disposable not only are they hygenic, but they also don't require any honing/stropping/maintaining.

They are excellent for learning to straight shave (depending on the type and the blade quality) and most work quite well. Your aunt has given you a tool to learn a whole new way to shave! Go for it - but be vewy vewy careful! :001_smile
