A few Restorations with a scale etching emphasis (Juste Judicato & Dubl Duck)

I thought I'd share some restorations where the etching on scales is damaged and needs restoration.

Razor: J&R Dodge Juste Judicato
Scales: "Superior Razor"

Main restoration

Blade is a classic wedge style Sheffield which I put an edge on and used for a while. The bevel is perfectly even, for a wedge, and shaves great.

Scales
I thought I'd try and reinscribe the original lettering pressed into the horn with a dremel bit and some magnification

and then some gold ink
You can't get the ink to stay on if you try and buff with a rag so I took a small rectangular block of balsa and used a sanding motion which managed to remove any overspill. (I need a marker with a finer nib but they seem hard to come by)

Love this thing (Pic taken before gold added)

Razor: Dubl Duck Satinedge
Scales: "Satinedge" "Ducks"

Another clapped out razor

I first tried filling in the etch but couldn't get it right so I had to resort to a cocktail stick and continually re-inking it on the pen

Even with magnification this is difficult as the etch is the same size as the cocktail stick point but I have ducks now

Now to clean out the Satinegde with a tiny dremel bit

Ink applied as well as I could and cleaned up with the dremel bit (needed X5 magnification)

Just finished peening it all back together so it has no edge but it looks nice now

When I was re-peening the Satinedge I didn't have 6 appropriate collars to use so I left way more overhang than normal in order to peen much larger mushrooms instead.

Just finished honing it. It took a long time to set the bevel as the back heel and front toe didn't want to cooperate and I wasn't using any pressure due to the thin grind. It's also at the point where the shoulder wants to get involved which was causing the heel issue.
Finished on 5, 3, 1 and 0.3 um film and it is screaming sharp. I don't usually use 0.3 as it can leave a harsh edge but have recently used it for stropping only which seems to work better. I still don't really use the 0.05um at all but I must try stropping with it sometime.
