What's new

A few finds today; Love this razor

Left to right:
  • Rexall (United Drug Co.) Shaving Stick; empty
  • Colgate's Rapid Shave Powder; full unused
  • Segal Unitary DE Razor; appearing to have never been used; with original box; missing two blade packs
  • Eversharp (Schick) gray handle DE razor; eagle on the end

I love the design of the Segal razor. Twist to raise head top, slide DE blade over and down head top, twist to lower head top, shave. I'm going to use it tomorrow and see how well it shaves. But I really do love the design. It's unique.

The Colgate's Rapid Shave Powder container is in immaculate condition and to my surprise, full to the top of powder. I believe it's from the 1920s.

If anyone knows exact or approximate years on these four items, please do let me know.

Nice finds....do you have Segal blades or are you gonna cut some?

Try not to blame the razor if the shave is no good with NOS blades.
Those old blades can start to oxidize leaving a rough blade edge that you can't see.
I hope your shave is good, but...
if it isn't, try cutting your own blade from a new DE.

I put a Derby blade on it with no problems. Getting the blade back off is another story though. I had to snip one of the ends of the blade to get it off.

I am keeping an eye out for Segal blades but I won't ever use them. I just want them to complete the set. The box has two places for a pack of blades so I'm on the hunt for two packs. Unless these were like older Gillette sets and had a place for new blades and a place of used blades?

Country Joe might still have some NOS Segal blades. I would really like to see the head on your Segal if you could get a Derby to seat well. The large oval I have on mine make it near impossible to close the cover.
