A Favorite Among the Ladies

For your viewing pleasure!

Here is the razor that at one time was every lady's favorite, and now one of my favorites too... Wish they made them like this these days, wouldn't there be a market for a razor as beautiful and functional as this one?

This stunning set required very little cleaning and actually came with the shipping box along with this very attractive display and instruction brochure. I wonder if anyone has a manufacture date for the Milady and when they discontinued making such a beauty.

Very nice set !!!
This razor is one of the New Improved and on the blade guard is a serial number. If you post this number I can tell you the year of manufacture.

Thanks Leon, glad to know there is a way to determine the age of this beauty. The serial number etched on the blade guard reads: 8196498. Is it listed?

Thanks.

Thanks.

The year is 1927.
I think on the end of serial number stay "B" not "8" and then the correct SN is 819649B

Thanks Leon... You are correct about the "B" rather than an "8". I see the serial number was also printed (stamped) on the outside of the shipper the case was delivered in. I just had not considered that that was the serial number. The final character is definitely a "B".

This razor is in incredible condition being 82-years old. Including the instructions brochure. Hope I age as gracefully.

Thanks again. Can I ask what your source is for the dating/serial number connections?

I have one!! Mine looks nothing like this though, it's pretty beat up. Still shaves awesome despite its battle scars.

Wow, what a nice razor and set! :a14: (We need a smilie that does the Roger Rabbit thing, where the eyeballs suddenly are 4x larger than the head and shoot out about 3 feet, all while making the ah-ooga sound.)

I am going to scan the instruction pamphlet and will try to get a cropped image of the section in the directions where it shows how to hold the razor to get the closest under arm shave with no pain, drag, or nicks! Imagine the model they used to get the illustration!

The MiLady Gillette was used for shaving at least one area of the lady's exposed body. See the clear instructions for more information. I'll add an advertisement later so you can see the model that was used. 1927 must have been quite a year for glamor and finesse.

And it would be so interesting to know who wrote the copy and how involved the process was. Gillette had alock on the market yet continued to evolve their product and packaging. Quite challenging when they had so little competition. So innovation was still their driving force -- or so it seems now.
