A comparison

I am quite happy with MWF, have no problem whipping up a great lather, even in very hard water, How does MWF compare with Mikes Natural for those who have tried both? Thanks...

I have not tried MWF, so I cannot compare the two soaps. However Mike's and most other artisan soaps do not contain chelating agents (ex. Tetrasodium EDTA), which work to sequester the mineral ions in hard water, allowing the soap to lather. Artisan soaps tend not to lather well in very hard water, although there are exceptions. For very hard water, I would stick to commercial soaps which should lather much better.

I live in an area that has extremely hard water and Mikes is one of my primary soaps. In fact, I received an order from him yesterday that contained the six scents that I didn't already have of his. Slick, yogurt like consistency every time I use his soaps. I love them. MWF was relegated to the back of the cabinet because the lather was so airy and dry.

I have both and find they both work well in moderately hard water. They are both excellent, although I feel I get a more consistently smooth and close shave with Da Phat. But Mike's is firmly established in my rotation.

As a previous poster stated, the difference that is most noticeable for me is that MWF tends to dry out on my face...Mike's (and MW for that matter) does not. That, and of course the various scents compared to the one MWF 'scent' are the major differences for me.

I do still use and really like MWF, though.

Mike's as has been said, holds its wetness more. My favoritw so far for the face feel. Nothing I've tried prevents irritation better. Scents are personal.... I think some of the Mike's are among the best, too. But I like MWFs scent just fine.

Those are the only two soaps I use. I prefer MWF, but Mike's gets just as much time in my rotation. IMHO you can't go wrong with either.
