The satisfaction of a job well done with the wonderful varying hardware and software options. And, it just smells so good!

I like the whole change of mindset. I used to rush in the mornings. Get up, brush the teeth, shave, shower, get dressed and head off to work. All in about 30 mins. Now I enjoy taking my time in the morning. I need to get up a bit earlier but it is well worth it. I now have a totally different attitude. Life doesn't have to be about answering as many e-mails on the Blackberry on the train to work before you get into the office. Take the time to savour things the simple things in life that give you pleasure.

I generally hate mornings, but I now have something to look forward to when I get out of bed. Having a good shave sets me in a good frame of mind for the rest of the day: my face feels good, I smell good, and I'm ready to take on the day. My wife likes to guess which soap or cream I'll use and looks forward to finding out which one I chose; I think she gets as much enjoyment out of my wet shaving as I do.

I think it is neat how before I would be in "auto pilot" with my Gillette Fusion and my "can 'o goo". I didn't even really think about what I am doing. Now, I spend time thinking about my shave and taking care of myself in the morning. It somehow leaves me more aware of life...kinda strange I know.

Yes, Sir.
I totally agree.

In no particular order . . .

1. An acceptable result with 2 passes in less than ten minutes if the occasion demands it.
3. A fantastic result with 3 or more passes when time isn't an issue.
3. Using something 40 or 50 years old or more in the same way it was intended when it was brand new.
4. A year's supply of blades for less than ten pounds.
5. Warm lather on cold winter mornings instead of cold gel straight from the can.
6. The luxury of choosing which products to use each morning.
7. Developing a skill that few men of my age possess.

+1. Taking 15-20 minutes for a shave, and thinking about nothing else.

The "mystique" drew me in; the smells enchanted me, and the way my face feels afterwards keeps me coming back.

i like spending lots of money on shaving stuff and i like swirling a brush in shaving cream. its like i am preparing an organic shaving cream and not using one with preservatives.
