7 o clock confusion

4 different types as there's two different greens.
In Russia they make the yellow sharp edge and green super stainless, in India they make the green permasharp and black super platinum.
The greens in both countries are the lower grade, most people don't like the russian green at all. The yellow sharp edge from russia and the black super stainless from india have some fans though.
Some people get more shaves out of a blade since their stubble isn't so coarse, or theyy do less passes because they don't shave so close, so never listen to how many shaves someone else claims they get out of a blade.

The topline are the Made in India brands of Gillette.

The bottom is the Green Russian & O'Clock.

The blacks are almost as sharp as feathers.

As I recall from Jason (dridiot), the green and yellow are the same blade, the yellow is coated.

I just got my first supply of these Yellow Russian Sharp Edge. I think I've finally found my good priced go to blade.
Had my fourth shave today with the first blade, and it's still going strong. Really can't tell a difference between the first and the fourth. All good! Sharp, smooth, forgiving and looking to be long lasting.
I've got a rather heavy full beard and somewhat sensitive skin. I usually do two passes with quite a bit of touch up, almost equaling three passes.

What does the platinum coating or the multicoating (what is that anyway?) do.

And where could one get a few of each to try out?

Thanks

- I couldn't agree more. Everyone it's different, that's the beauty of diversity.:thumbup1:

Unless the guy has peach fuzz, there is no way you can 15-16 shaves per blade. I highly recommend the Yellow's, they have the best balance of sharpness and smoothness. That last sentence was completely a YMMV thing. I just saw they have Bolzano Superinox Titanium blades, what are they they sound fancy?

I haven't tried any 7 O'clocks yet, but another B&B member (local to myself) has found some 7 O'clock blue super platinum, made in Czech Republic. I can't find a thing on the internet about them. Maybe they're old stock?

i tried a brand new 7 o clock yesterday courtesy of my friend who got them for me from india. I must admit i got a very good shave with the same preparations as i do always. as to comparing it the Gillette platinum that come in the plastic cases. I have yet to try the blacks . My suggestion is that every blade works different for everyone. It all depends on technique preparation and coarse of hair and comes down to a personal preference.
