7-Day Set

I got ahold of several "Improved Eagle", and "Celebrated Eagle" razors over the last month and have seen a few more floating around for sale on the net. That being said, I'm gonna put together a 7-day set. I'm 4/7 of the way there, and have started thinking about what I would like to re-scale them in for uniformity's sake. I like the look of a solid smooth black scale, and I like ivory (or imitation) too. I thought I would ask the great minds here at B&B for your opinions. This will be my first re-scale project, so I don't wanna go with a medium that is too difficult to work with. On the other hand, I don't wanna go kindergarden on this, I want it to look good. I want it to be passed on to my kids and grandchildren one day. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Any tips as to where it can be purchased?

I'm considering using deer antler. I dunno how easy it would be to work with, but near where I live, its plentiful. I figured if I didn't like the color I could use some ebony stain to darken it, but I haven't really researched it too much.

Thanks, I just checked the site out, along with the micarta, I checked out the horn.... polished black horn would look amazing... how hard is it to work with?

Horn is easy, cuts nice, wet sands very nicely, polishes to mirror

I think thats gonna end up being my material of choice.
I also plan on taking the blades to a local engraver to have the day of the week put on the spine (after the blade restoration that is). I have a plan, now all I have to do is get the other 3 razors and some horn and get to work.

Honing is hit and miss for me lately. Seems like every blade I've picked up lately is warped in some form or fashion. I had to beat a Genco nearly to death to get a bevel set on it today. A man could make a little bit of dough around here modifying GDs to the point of being honeable and selling them on to aspiring honers.

Several actually have. I was lucky and was PIF'd one by Krodor (thanks again Sir). It seems to be the only one I could get to hone properly. I have several other razors, and haven't been able to get them just right.

i have seen some very attractive blonde horn that is almost white with something along the lines of azurite as an inlay. nothing extreme just a circle inlay towards the wedge end.

Well, I have a little time to decide. I'm in the process of trading for #5, and looking at a couple others around the net.
