50€ + brush wanted

With this first post I'm looking for some advice for my next brush.

After my conversion from Gillette Sensor Excel (System) to DE -- with some help of one of your fellow members. I started to reflect a little more what and how I do when shaving. So I thought I should look for a better brush.

Having read the BB Guide to Shaving Brushes and Björn's excellent Synthetic Brush Round Up I collected some details about my current brush.
I use to facelather with my Wilkinson-Sword pure badger brush (made in Germany) for ~15yrs. Although it's a little floppy I get good results with my Florena shaving cream. It has a 21mm knot and about 50mm bristle high. I would prefer a little more hair packed in the knot, I guess.

option 1: Get me a men-ü synthetic. So I can use it for traveling later on if my standard rises. or ..

option 2: Get me a nice badger brush like the Mühle Silberspitz-Dachszupf or one of those nice Rooney's.

Just today I had a look at the Body Shop synthetic shaving brush -which is way to small- and a Pils Rasierpinsel at our local mall. The later one for some reason I didn't like. Maybe because of the saileslady - who took me much energy to make her stop talking. ;-)

btw. I'm asked to tell you : that this will be my last or only brush, and that "SBAD hasn't really gotten ahold of me." ;-)

Cheers, Jörg

Thanks for your reply. It was the drop on the full barrel of water.
I couldn't stand it any longer and ordered the men-ü along with some nice soap and blades :).
So the question is going to be how long will it last until I need a nice badger brush ?

If you don't want to be tempted by another brush I suggest you do not enter this site again but you're not going to do that are you?

I still use my Men-U right alongside my huge finest badger that I just got at the first of this year. The big badger is a great bowl latherer, and I use it with my Georgetown Pottery G5 scuttle.

If I'm in a hurry (way too often) out comes the Men-U for either a face lather or a soap lather (Tabac in original bowl), and it works great for either. I've just about switched to using shave creams exclusively. I need to get a small grater and start milling down my Tabac to use for bowl lathering in my scuttle.

My Men-U Premier came with a very nice chrome wire brush stand. I wish it fit my badger too, but alas, the 26mm knot won't squeeze into it.

No you did not. While you slept i grabbed the Tulip 2 from Hunter (huntmol) and you are now getting my own Tulip 2 i got from Michael (poonjaji).

Being asleep won't save you! :tongue_sm

Cheers, Tom.

I managed to stay away very successful !
.. while I sleept :001_smile

Now as I sayd early in this thread I ordered a men-Ü some days back.
Now I already have it around for a few days so I could try it with different creams and soaps I use.

Ok - it produces good lather even when I face lather as I used to. On the other hand my comparable cheap Wilkinson badger brush feels much nicer on the skin.
So I doubt the men-Ü will make it into my regular rotation.
Will let you know - probably in the reviews section - about my ongoing journey.

Cheers, Joerg
