What's new

4th year anniversary PIF.

Well It is hard to believe that I have been a member since 2006. I have gaind so much from being here on and off over those years and thought it is my time to give back. This pif is for a new wet shaver. It is not much, but at least it is something. I am giving away 3/4 tub of mama bears orange orange soap and 15 crystal IP blades. This should be enough for a good months shave if not longer. I would like all the new wet shavers interested to tell post what brought them here and why they decided to start wet shaving.

I stumbled across the fine place by accident looking for information on injector razors and I got started cause I was flat out sick of throwing money away on expensive carts and getting worse and worse shaves with "every improvement" they made.

As Jeff Foxworthy said...
A razor costs $8 but the blades cost $2,000. Here is a simple way to send your kids to college... Don't shave

A good buddy of mine started Straight shaving...peaked my interested, and I decided on DE shaving. Get back to some of the basics. Cool PIF, I'm new so I'm just trying to experiment with different products. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A guy on bladeforums gave me a link here.
I was on bladeforums because of the much info on knives and did not even know they had a sub forum about razors/shaving. I "stumbled" in that forum, in a search for a knife and that forum came up in a search. I looked around, read a little, made a few posts and was "guided" over here.
Seems I don't just like knives, but anything with an edge, point or sharp, LOL!!
OMG is there a LOT to learn on shaving..., who would have guessed!!!
I was used to the plastic throw away's, although, always hated them, but that was all there was. I had no idea the old Gillettes were around, much less still in use, LOL!! (not to mention Merkur, parker and others still making new DE's)
Yeah, I also tried the electrics, but they never seemed to get all the hir either, so, settled on shaving with the electric foil and touching up with the disposable, not enjoyable.
Shaving DE takes me longer, but for some reason, I like it:)
Count me in please...

I'm interested. Thanks for the PIF. :thumbup1: I can't wait to accumulate enough stuff to do something like this.

I ran across the "Art of Manliness" article on Lifehacker and was immediately interested. I googled and read a half dozen articles on the tradition of wet-shaving and the benefits of DE's. In one of the articles, there was a link to B&B. I browsed around a bit and was immediately hooked. I've been a member on a dozen different boards for a dozen different hobbies and this one is by far the most interesting, helpful, and entertaining. I think I'm a fixture here now. :tongue_sm:tongue_sm

I first became interested in wet-shaving for the financial benefits, but the traditional aspect and the idea of self-pampering has won me over. The financial part is just icing on the cake.

Sorry guys for the delay. I was detained in NC for a bit longer than I thought. I will do pick the name on the 3rd.

what brought me here?

a buddy at work got into DE shaving, raved about it so i went online to do my usually research research research. i came across B&B, signed up and was hooked.

i've only be DE shaving for about a week, but love it. still getting the hang of it, still reading and trying to figure everything out. face is a little red and burning today, but it's a nice close shave and i had fun doing it.

great site, great giveaway, good luck to everyone who's in.

count me in

About 2 months ago I became obsessed about getting a close, burn free shave & wound up here after researching other methods of shaving on-line, & well so long Schick disposables!

My brother in law had the good ole DE, brush, and soap going in the bathroom which got us talking about the shave and the prices and how I was sick and tired of paying for the cartridges. Well first DE shave and loved it, only one nick not bad. He sent me to this site if I was interested in learning more and wanted to get into it because this is where he got started too.

I ended up joining B&B for the simple fact, i realised when i was 14 i looked forward to being "able to shave", I'm 25 and have never enjoyed a shave, i've tried every new fandangled razor produced by the big names, electric razors etc. and never liked it.

I became upset with it enough to begin looking at other options i thought if i went back to the old school, i might enjoy it some more.

So far so good, i've shaved more in the last few days than i did in the last 3 years i think.

I am currently on leave after a 6 month deployment in South America and can't wait to use some of my temporary free time to enjoy some MB. Thanks again!
