You should probably delete this - it violates the live auctions rule. You need to wait until it's ended to post the ebay page.

RARE VINTAGE GILLETTE SAFETY RAZOR ENGLAND TIN BOX METAL HANDLE TRAVELING SE

its not a auction so it is permitted by the way. i might have to post a thread full of funny descriptions its a laugh

its the description i find funny ''DEAR BUYERS, WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER YOU A RARE VINTAGE GILLETTE SET - TRAVELING SAFETY RAZOR WITH ORIGINAL TIN BOX. IT IS MARKED MADE IN ENGLAND. THE RAZOR IS SLIGHTLY SCRATCHED ALL OVER THE BODY. THERE ARE MANY PATINA SPOTS AND MARKS OF USE. THE TOP LAYER ON THE HANDLE IS LITTLE ERASE IN SEVERAL AREAS ON THE EDGES. THE BOX IS SLIGHTLY SCRATCHED TOO. THE PAINT IS ERASED ON THE BOTH SIDES. THERE ARE MANY SOFT DENTS AND RUSTY SPOTS. AS A WHOLE THE CONDITION IS VINTAGE USED GOOD.''

Any time a seller uses the word "patina" look out . . . crud that should be cleaned off somehow magically makes the razor worth more!

It's a five-dollar razor that, if cleaned and polished, will never exceed shaver-grade . . . in a case that is virtually worthless!

The sad part is someone's wife will probably buy it and present it as a gift, patina and all!

English Techs are less common than their US counterparts, but not that rare and that one needs a full restoration. If it was $20 I'd go for it but $88 not even in Rhodium (but then again, I could....) No!

I often like to message the sellers of these items, letting them know about deficiencies in the items or the descriptions. It is actually quite interesting to see the variety of responses I have gotten in return. I would venture that most sellers are just ignorant in regards to the razors, occasionally, I get the impression that they are intentionally misrepresenting the item to bump up the selling price.

Usually when called on an item description, they will modify the info in the description or post your question stating the discrepancy. There is that occasional seller I see will post another like item with the same misleading description. I then know to stay away from those sellers.

How odd, when I clicked, it went to an entirely different auction. I understand that BINs are OK. *that* razor I would have remembered. No post edit, must have been a misdirect. Apologies for the confusion.
