3One6 Vs. Henson Medium

Iridian

Cool and slimy
Yes. Very different, the Henson is effortless and gives a very good shave easily. I recommend getting at least the Medium version, it is super mild but also quite efficient. The 3ONE6 has a hard time going against it. It's not hyper efficient and also not auto-shave guaranteed for a good result. The steel version at least has a little bit more weight, for the aluminum version I would rather pick the Henson. But then, there are other razors out there (now that was a hint, wasn't it?!) :straight:

They are both very different as @Iridian mentioned. I had the stainless 3one6 and liked it for the most part, but I have kept my Medium Henson AL and Ti razors. The Henson provides the same, or better, results with much less effort and risk of nicks. If you're looking for something like the 3one6, I would recommend the Rocca R94 instead.

Great comparison!! :thumbup1:

I have the EJ 3one6 and both Henson Medium and Agressive (v2) and don't understand the hype the Henson gets.

In the beginning my personal shaving journey I thought the least blade feel would translate to a comfortable shave, but low blade feel does not equal comfort, or less irritation or cuts. The Henson Medium still gave me micro cuts when my skin was not at it's best, like any other razor. The disadvantage of not feeling the blade (plus not being efficient enough), is that there is no feedback. Without feedback I can't make the necessary adjustments, to the blade angle or pressure, etc.

For me the EJ 3one6 is the most comfortable razor I own. It's funny because I'm always trying to get away from it and find something better (like the Hensons), but so far I haven't found it. Another funny fact is that I won it in a giveaway and would never bought it myself, even now. It just doesn't fit the profile I'm looking for (in this case is clamping the blade near the edge).
Different razors will feel differently on the skin. My other favorite razor, the Focus Tritok Concave has very little blade gap, but you can still feel the blade. Some will say this razor is more comfortable than the EJ, but not for me. Just a different feeling.

Unfortunately there are many variables when shaving with a razor, geometry, gap, blade exposure, skin type and hair.
Do a ton of research reading different opinions.

I've bought around 30 razors during 2023 and when I get up in the morning usually choose the 3one6 and its been like that for a long time. I'd say the Feather ASD2 (which I have owned twice) is more comfortable but the result from the 3one6 is better. The 3one6 is so good that I've been gradually selling down my collection of modern and vintage and it may have cured my RAD. I'm mostly buying shaving software now.
