DE SOTD, Tuesday, November 29th 2022, #333 of 333 consecutive daily shaves!

Razor : Razorock Wunderbar slant with a modified Micromatic handle, Mfg 2017-2022, upper mid range, some real accurate machining and QC on this razor, light touch with a steep angle(riding the bar works for myself), you can receive some stellar smooth shaves. I have been experimenting with a 2 stack blade to see how it performs, 2nd shave excellent and tames it down a notch also if curious.
Blade : 2 X Astra SP (2) sharp & smooth with excellent longevity, trying a 2 stack in a DE for the first time with nice results.
Soap : Speick, very nice mild spicy scent with some of the best lather qualities in a soap, triple milled and worth every penny.
Brush : Yaqi "Deep stones" 24mm boss knot- excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber, excellent painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock King Louis splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBs+ no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Excellent shave with my RR Wunderbar slant with 2 X Astra SP blade.

Have some great shaves!
Ron, on your 2 stack, do you use two intact blades or a snapped blade and just shave with one side of the DE razor? Thanks for the info.

I just stack them on each other and it seems to be even with the RR Wunderbar slant razor.

Sunday 4th December, shave #338

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Enhancement: a few drops of glycerine
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 OC, Ti Handle, Astra SP #1
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave

Stayed with the open comb, but loaded up a fresh Astra.

Started with the standard N-S, mostly-WTG pass. Then skipped the XTG on my cheeks, going ATG. The neck area got the same. Other areas got XTG, but no ATG. Overall, I kept the coverage down to 2 passes.

That seemed to work. No obvious irritation, or the aftershave would have stung.

The open comb Game Changer is noticeably more effective WTG than the safety bar, so it makes sense that it would need less follow-up.

Notes to today’s shave:

For this honorary shave I brought out the big guns. The R41 took the lead for the first pass. The Timeless took the excellent first pass over the BBS finish line together with the Eddison blade.

The Omega boar was hungry again this morning and lathering up was proving more of a challenge than usual. My boar is super soft with just enough backbone. A joy to use.

Floïd's was nice and Nivea was nourishing. Nice kickstart of the week!

Enjoy your day!

Shave # 339

Razor: Gem Micromatic Open Comb
Blade: Gem SS PTFE (11)
Brush: Yaqi Atlantis
Soap: Mama Bear’s Frankincense & Myrrh
Balm: Tabac
Aftershave: WSP Tobacco

It came out well. I have to be careful with the Gem and the open comb when I first use it after a long time without. The technique is diffferent.

Razor: Muhle R89 Rose Gold
Blade: Muhle(6)
Soap: MdC Original
Brush: Muhle Kosmo STF with Bog Oak handle

I pulled out all the Muhles for tonight's shave with razor, brush and blade and MdC Original for MdC Monday. As usual this made for a superior shaving experience with the amazing lather from the MdC lifting the shave right out of the ordinary. The R89 as ever made the experience as smooth as a greased pole cat and showed why this particular setup is becoming a favourite.
The resulting near BBS was no surprise and capped a most enjoyable shave.

Notes to today’s shave:

A memorable shave as I had my 365 shave and my first anniversary as DE wet shaver this morning. I used my first item (the KCG) together with my last item (Omega Roma) for an easy and comfortable shave. The KCG razor is mild and I noticed that I have grown in my preference and like more effective razors nowadays. In comparison to the blades in the Discovery Adventure the KCG reminded me of its superior performance. Smooth, comfortable, easy-going and sharp. It also reminded me of a luring danger with this blade. After applying aftershave and balm I noticed irritation on my neck - not during the shave but afterwards. The KCG blade and razor combination has the deceiving ability to let you think you can get away with anything only to find out you might have overshaved an area or two.

The new Omega Roma brush was a delight! Excellent brush, great lathering capabilities and very nice to the skin. Solid backbone while also soft and pleasant. Lather was a bit on the dryer side I noticed, I need to dial in the water levels for this brush a bit more.

My first shave was with De Vergulde Hand, but I do not have that in stock at the moment, so went with the second soap I ever bought, Proraso Green. Simply wonderful. I only used KCG Face Wash as pre-shave, but that did not do the trick fully. I need more pre-shave preparation - which may also have contributed to the irritation I bet.

I have decided to celebrate my first anniversary shave with a PIF and the winner has already been preselected and contacted. I expect the package to go out later this week. This community has given me so much over the past months I truly think your conduct and interactions with me have made me a better person. And for that I thank you ALL!

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful shave today!

ASRazor shave, Tuesday, December 6th 2022, #340 of 340 daily consecutive shaves!

Razor : Ever-Ready 1924(AKA shovel head) with a Ever-ready streamline strop handle - Mfg 1924-33, mid range, well built to last, this time of the year in the winter months the ASR razors sure perform well because to the dryness in the air here in Northern Alberta(-35 C today). I put in a Rigs shim underneath the spline of the modern blade and did this razor ever become a smoother shave. One of the best shaves ever with this razor IMO. Always learning about shaving techniques to squeeze more out of my razors by a simple tweak of a blade :001_smile. Very enjoyable shave this cold crisp day.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(7) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice scent of Vanilla and light tobacco. One of my favorite soaps, used my first glass tub up today and out comes my 2nd jar of 8.5 OZ of goodness.
Brush : Yaqi " Casino clubs" 26mm Timberwolf synthetic :001_wub:, excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber, excellent lather painter. 26mm synthetic brushes are awesome.
Post shave : Santa Maria del Fiore with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17:excellent shave with my Ever-Ready 1924 with a coated Gem blade. (It does not get any better a shave then this morning!)

Timeless Ti .68 SB
blade Nacet vs the green 7 O’Clock still trying to narrow down my #1 blade
these are my two current favs trying to decide if one truly is better and yeah both are great its more differences trying to nail that down is hard but hope to find a winner of the two then start comparing my soaps again and then back to my blades is my new attack plan of finding keeping the #1 fav gear OH so silly shave nerd stuff I am doing but having fun

Those old tootsie pop commercials I kinda want to bite it and just be done but can’t so keep moving along daily :)

CC Cream for me such wonderful post feeling stuff truly when the AS hits the face I feel only the evaporating and no sting which is my goal
the Bay Rum & Lime combo is very nice about 2 parts Bay Rum to 1 part Lime is great
to me the Bay Rum is nice on its own and the Lime just makes another great combo but the Lime on its own is just not my thing nothing wrong just not me

Do love my Old Spice and while I love the Clubman Pinaud I am finding I just prefer this Old Spice

brush wise loving this RV STF did bring out my Plissoft the other day and not even close this Muhle is so much nicer so still want to try some of the APShave the MIG and the the G5C most likely when I am done narrowing down the soap and blades though or to say the last thing I narrow down will be the brushes the handle color shape RV nailed it for me
