What's new

365 shaves in 2021.

Shave #320. Same PermaSharp for quite a few days now worked fine in the lvl 2 Charcoal Goods. The omnibus base in Leviathan is a very different kind if lather. Gooey.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary Edition
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic Cashmere
Razor: Rockwell 6S, R3, Astra SP #4

Chose the Rockwell again, for a good autopilot shave.

You've got a lot of kit. Are you enjoying using something different almost every day? Or do you miss using your favorites?

Today I used a Wolfman WR1 .86 DC using the SB side only for all three passes. Fantastic shave with no issues using also SW Autumn Leaves with a WSP badger brush. RR puros AS followed which I use to pair with all my Fall scented soaps.

ShavingADD can be a terrible master. ;)

I enjoy shaving with different razors, getting to know them and extracting the best performance I can from each one.

Unless I'm in the middle of a comparison, I use my #1 razor (the Blackland Vector) at least once every week. :)

Wednesday 17th November, shave #321

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Palmolive
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic Cashmere
Razor: Rockwell 6S, R2, Astra SP #4
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Hyaluronic Acid.

Tried using the R2 plate for a change. This might pair well with a very sharp blade, but with an Astra SP it was too mild, and the result was a SAS. R3 is my minimum good setting for daily use.

Thursday 18th November, shave #322

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.68 SB, Astra SP #6
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Hyaluronic Acid.

Since it got late, had a quick (but all passes) shave, and was slightly surprised to get a near-BBS with no irritation. There's a lot to be said for developing good autopilot.

Friday 19th November, shave #323

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary Edition
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.68 SB, Astra SP #7
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Hyaluronic Acid.

Tried a repeat of yesterday's quick shave, apart from choice of soap, and got another good result. The .68 Game Changer is my favourite razor, and the 365 challenge is tuning it in for daily use.

There is a lot of tuning that happens when you shave very single day for a year! Plus I can use and try so many different soaps!
