I survived a lathey foreman
MMMonday, March 20th 2023, #79 of 79 consecutive daily shaves.

Razor : Star bar model #4 lather catcher, Mfg 1919-20, tame mid range, this razor works perfect with a new blade, not to many razors can even come close for results IMO. It seems to shave ever so slightly better than the Gem Jr bar for my self. Had a excellent comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(1) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap :Razorock Emperor, unique linear sharp scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi " Casino club" 26mm timber wolf knot, excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. I like the face feel this brush offers!
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock Emperor with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: stellar excellent shave with my Star bar #4 with a Gem coated blade.
(It does not get much better a shave then this one today!)

MdC Monday
Muhle Monday

IMG_20230320_121846.jpg

Razor: Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Big Ben (4)
Brush: Muhle Kosmo STF
Soap: MdC Original

Tonight for MdC Monday and Muhle Monday I lathered Original with the Kosmo a favourite combination of mine. On a side note I was looking at my jar of MdC tonight and I have used about 5mm of soap and mostly lathering with the 21mm Kosmo STF I have 38 shaves from this jar. At my current rate of use I can see it lasting forever, or at least until I die. In fact if I pass it on to one of my children, they could probably pass it on to one of my grandchildren, when I have some.
The Rocca, being the star performer it is, managed another BBS, though I did need a quick touch-up pass, but with this setup I would happily do a 6 pass shave

Tallow Tabac Tuesdays!

PXL_20230306_225423157a.jpeg

Gillette Old Type with Muhle Rasurkultur blade (21), Tallow Tabac and B&B Shavemac Beagle

Good Day Gents
The Old Type razor is excellent in it's simplicity and "perfect" design. For the second day the Muhle blade has been rough, especially on the first pass. I remember LJ, @LJBraaten saying words to the effect that all blades start showing wear after 10 shaves. Today was a fun and enjoyable challenge to minimize the limitations of the blade and focus on good technique to get good results without irritation. I got a DFS+ finish.

Razor: RR Lupo 95SB
Blade: Big Ben (5)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band badger
Soap: EJ Limes and Pomegranate

Tonight EJ was back up, lathered with the Moka-Express and the Lupo/Big Ben combo again performed the shave after the success they made last time with this soap. This time though wasn't so great, the first pass showed the lather to be a little watery so it wasn't quite.as protective as it should have been. After loading more soap the lather was better but still not quite right and I ended up nicking my neck with the corner of the razor, though it wasn't bad and after a little alum it stopped. By the final pass I had the lather right but only had a near BBS to show for it.

80 of 80 this morning
  • Blackland Ti Blackbird with a Nacet blade
  • MdC Rose lathered with a Rudy Vey Persian Jar with a Shavemac 2 band Silvertip in a Mugseco lather bowl
  • Finished with Dickenson’s WH and Fine American Blend
A superb shave with a number of my favorites. The Ti Bird is my top razor and Nacet blades are top tier for me. MdC could be my only soap. A Shavemac 2 band silvertip in one of Rudy’s handles is always great. Perhaps the Persian Jar is my favorite, but that could change with my next shave. The lather bowl was a 65th birthday present and is a joy to use.

Over the years I have added many new products, some used almost every day and some less so. In March, I have finished the following:
  • Floid Vigoroso (400 ml)
  • Fine Fresh Vetiver AS (100 ml)
  • Fine American Blend AS (100 ml)
  • Dickenson’s WH (16 oz)
Bottles of each are in reserve, but the Fine Fresh Vetiver AS can no longer be replaced and will be saved for some time. It will give me a chance to try out the new to me SV Desert Vetiver AS.

I don’t post that often as my kit does not change much. I use a razor blade in a razor for four shaves (three for a feather). Brushes are rotated every day through 9 brushes down from 10 (but the Simpson Classic 2 may reappear). The primary variety is in my aftershave, but even there I am tending toward using the same aftershave on consecutive days.

When away from home, most of my other less used razors get used and I have one brush at a friend’s house where I spend time regularly and one brush in my travel kit.

I am just so fortunate in where this morning ritual has taken me. This forum has been instrumental in making me aware and helping me to find my gear.
