What's new

30mm Manchurian in African blackwood chubby replica.

Here is my new brush with a 30mm manchurian badger knot set in an African blackwood simpsons chubby clone done by our great Pixelfixed!!

The knot started out with an 83mm loft. Here it is beside a Rooney's Heritage stubby size 3 for comparison. Pixelfixed bored out the handle and set, the brush has a loft of 57mm. The knot now set and used one time has bloomed slightly and can't wait for it to continue to expand! Perfectly soft with the slightest scritch the brush set this way is denser and stiffer than the rooney but not as soft.

I have a straight with African Blackwood scales and it looks gorgeous, exactly like the brush in this thread!

Thanks for the great compliments guys! This brush really performs well especially considering the knot only cost me $18 (that's including the shipping). I can only compare it to my rooney and I'll say that it's not quite as soft but has more backbone with only the slightest scritch; the rooney has no scritch. It's ability to make lather is astronomical. The amount of lather it holds is plain silly. FULLY loaded with MWF or Tabac the brush generates enough lather for about 15 passes (not exaggerating).

I dont know the rules about posting stuff here so I'll leave the info about the seller out and just say if you're interested send me a PM. As far as cost of the handle, that's between me and Pixelfixed but I'll say that he is absolutely fair in his pricing and is a master of his craft; the quality of the handle is second to none.

One thing I'll have to get used to is the shear weight of this thing! It's a workout making the lather but well worth the effort. Honestly this is a very viable alternative to the $200 and up brushes for a fraction of the cost.
