What's new

30 years and two months later...

Below is my very first post here at B&B less than two months ago. I just wanted to say thanks to B&B and thanks to all of the ladies and gentlemen that have helped me in my return to safety shaving. It has been a raging success.

In less than two months of shaving with a Rolls Razor and DE/SE razors, and for the first time in decades, the ingrown hairs/razor bumps on my neck are gone! I am well on my way and enjoying every minute of it.

I couldn't have done it without you. From giving me free advice to giving me free blades and razors, I am humbled by your generosity...and as trite and corny as this may sound, I am a better man now than I was two months ago.

So from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you.

Jim

back after 30 years
First off...let me just say that there is an amazing wealth of solid info at this site, I thank you all for that.

One early Sunday morning some 30 years ago, my father taught me to shave with a Gillete butterfly style razor. I remember the smell of the soap, and the feel of the razor on my skin...but more than anything I felt like my dad was letting me into some special club. A club that was for men only, in a way I felt like I became a man that day. It was one of those moments that a 13 year old boy would never forget, but alas, over time the memory became cloudy. Well after looking around here for a bit, so many memories came flooding back to me.

I am really looking forward to getting back to where I started so long ago. Honestly, for so long shaving was something I didn't even think about, I was just buying my expensive packs of blades from Costco, shaving with a Mach 5, not enjoying shaving at all, getting ingrown hairs on my neck and just shrugging my shoulders and thinking, thats just the way it was.

If anyone has any advice on how to jump back in after this long...I'm all ears. Any council on this issue would be appreciated.

Regards, Baba (Jim)

Fantastic. And now that you've solved some tough problems of your own, and you're clearly enjoying the journey, please help others too. This place lives on good advice.

Hear, hear Mink! Excellent point.

Help each other, or kindly leave, thank you very much.
