2024 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - The Year of MacGyver

I started Tabactober in early January this year and also enjoying it but I suspect the end is near.
Still in and getting results. I finished my third soap of the year, and my first aftershave product. I have to say that Black Watch was an excellent soap. Loved that base.

Still in. Today's shave after 48 hours growth.
Soap: Jack Black Beard Lube + Arko stick
Brush: Yaqi Timberwolf
Razor: Leaf Thorn
Blade: 1/2 Derby Extra (2)
Aftershave: Proraso Red Splash
Jawline touch-up with the Mach 3 (11)

Since I rediscovered how much I like my mid-80's Black Handle Super Speed, I have been eying getting a reconditioned flare tip. Hopefully, I can make it until the sabbatical is complete!

Wow! This year is flying by so quickly. I just realized that it’s been a year since I joined B&B and, it seems that I haven’t made a dent in the soaps that I have. Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far.

Successfully closed out Tabactober without so much as a hiccup.

I finally finished off my first soap of the year (Cella in the red tub). Since I work from home, I've gotten in a bad habit of only shaving every other day because no one can tell on Zoom if I skip a day. That means a puck of soap lasts me 6 months instead of 3!

Coming to the end of the line. I hope everyone who is still in is temptation free. I must confess, that even though I am still shave purchase free, I have really splurged on myself this year. I bought new ski boots, two pairs of used powder skis (one total beater pair for Mount Bohemia), Heston glove/mits, ski helmet, goggles, and season passes for 4 midwest ski resorts.

I went heavy on fishing gear. A new Daiwa Tatula Baitcaster, Penn Battle III spinning reel, a couple Fenwick HMG baitcasting rods (3+1 PC travel), a bunch of plastics, braided lines. All stuff I would have likely bought anyways.
I do the Sabbatical for fun. I'm spending stuff on other hobbies now matter what. Knowing the cost of ski gear, I'm guessing you spent more!
Next up, I hope to customize the Dekla pilot watch I've been wanting to order all year and hit Purchase.

Nice equipment. I have a Penn ultralight that I got nearly forty years ago. I have a similar baitcaster as well.
I broke the Fenwick rod for the Penn in 1994 in a car accident. The Penn reel lives on though and it has been my favorite fishing companion all these years. I definitely have more hours on it than anything else.
I don’t loan it out but it was “borrowed” once by a cousin who had no clue of its value and I thought it was lost forever. Then when I found it in my uncle’s boat no one thought anything of it because, hey it’s all family and you have it back now. Except it was an entire season that it was in someone else’s boat and I couldn’t use it.
When I got back into serious fishing a few years ago, I started using my very old Cardinal/Abu Garcia spinning reel. It always served me well but I didn't have anything to compare it against.
I started researching reels and stumbled on Penn. I ended up decided to try a Battle III and was blown away with the build quality and smoothness of it.
After that, I added a few more. Now I have a couple 1000s, a 2000 and a 3000. Bi think that's it,.but there may be one more. I've lost track. When they hit low prices or Amazon or they have a warehouse deal "used" one, I usually can't resist.
#50 still in. No temptations.

Ai! I need to stop myself from jinxing the stats. I was just thinking that the crowd was going strong this month!
Those unobtainium moments and great businesses seizing operations can certainly be a good reason for going out. I was actually expecting more would fall for Executive Shaving ‘s demise.
