2023 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - The Year of The Prisoner

Like the theme. Never heard of the show, but always liked Patrick Mcgoohan on Columbo. Will have to watch the series now.
Haven't been shaving a year yet, but feel I can easily make it a year with the gear I have. The only thing I should need us aftershave, mainly because I don't know how far it lasts. With that said I will buy some and call myself in.

Patrick McGoohan played the villain in Columbo 4 times which is more than any other actor

I'm going to follow along at home because I loved the show so I'd like to drop in on you all from time to time. I probably have enough gear to last a year, but not the willpower much like @FarmerTan though I have pared down my own buying, this coming year my plan is for 1 brush, 1 razor, 3 soaps and less than 200 blades seeing as my main AD is SAD.

I squeezed in another purchase today: I couldn't resist the adjustable Van der Hagen DE razor that just hit the shelves of my local grocery store. I've never used an adjustable and the price was right. I may try to grab some extra blades before the new year to make sure I have ample supplies in case I get bored with a steady diet of cartridges.

I'm in. After going out this year I scratched every itch, and developed BAD for a bit. I have more than enough to be happy for the year. My goal is no purchases until Black Friday 2024.

Way Back, when all these things we love were mainstream, such was in the grocery stores as well as in the drug stores. Then, in the 1980's, such disappeared slowly from first the grocery stores and then the drug stores. By the late 1980s I was having to use what I had by razors and brushes, get my blades from the surgical supply shop, and use artisan made shaving soap. We had no online shaving shops even though I had been online since the early 1980s. The drug stores had cart razors and canned cream and that was about it.

Now, such things are back in the grocery stores.

None of it is "highbrow" stuff, but if I need a razor, blades, a brush, or soap, I can just bop over to the neighborhood store and get something usable. Quite a change from when I started this traditional shaving thing back a dozen or so years ago and it was much harder to find anything locally.

It is a great theme. Lots of good movies (or at least some fun ones) from the 60's.
I remember Funeral in Berlin, The Ipcress File, The Naked Runner, to more light-hearted movies like Modesty Blaize, In Like Flint, Matt Helm.

Picked up a great box-set: Man On A String, The Deadly Affair, Otley, A Dandy in Aspic, Hammerhead, The Executioner.
