What a theme. Now I feel like I ought to have some of PAA's atomic themed brushes. Oh well. Don't need them. In fact I have more than a year's worth of everything and it's not worth selling. Time to use stuff up.

If VDH discontinues luxury soap or Gillette discontinues Cool Wave A/S, or the PPI plant in Russia closes, I'm going to go out in order to hoard remaining stock, because I cannot ever run out of any of those. Other than that, should not be a problem but we'll see how it goes.

Welcome everyone to the upcoming year-long mission on the ESS Superspeed. We hope to increase the crew size with more brave and hearty souls. A quick briefing for this morning.
Questions have been asked regarding the new (for 2021) rules for PIFs.
After a discussion with the starship command staff, it has been decided to keep the rules as they are (that entering a PIF will put you out). Entering into a PIF almost every time has one major purpose, one seeks to win the PIF and to get the item(s) which have been offered. This approach is not quite in line with the intention of sabbatical (restraint).
The rules basically allow the participants of the sabbatical to offer a PIF (see rule 6).
A participant can offer a PIF by either:
a) with the stuff one already bought prior to the start of the sabbatical, or
b) with stuff which is purchased subsequent to the start in order to make the PIF possible.
It's in line with the rules to bear shipping costs regarding both alternatives.
In case of b) it remains at the sole discretion of the member if he is still in or if said PIF-related purchase puts the member out (see rule 12).
Rule clarification:
Since rule no. 6 is a new rule it does not put a member out in a situation where said member has entered into a PIF prior to 1/1/2021 and the member gets announced as winner of the PIF after the start of the 2021 sabbatical.

I’d love to join but i only ever have one soap on hand so when it’s done i buy to replace it. Is that acceptable or would i have to buy a stash for the year? Only reason i ask is because i’m in the leap year sabbatical and from my understanding it’s buy to replace items only.

Only thing you will run out is your AS. You calculate how much time it took you to use the first half. Also you can put an AS on the exception. Welcome aboard.
I am not a fan of this new rule, at all. It probably came from @Invicta; that guy is such a killjoy.
I thought the intention of the sabbatical was to save money. If you have not spent anything for the year, that is showing restraint, as it was previously defined.
I don't know about @Invicta, but the reason I joined was to save money and have fun. Remember fun, it can't have been than long ago when you had some!?
A PIF is about fun and games! Who wins is totally down to luck. It is not about acquiring more stuff. It is about fun!

Depending on the remaining soap amount in the tub you are using right now one more tub of soap could be enough to complete the entire space mission (remember how long some soaps last... @martym and his never ending Martin de Candre soap comes to mind... ) You could use a soap as exception here and buy it as soon as you need a replacement. This should be compliant with the rules of both sabbaticals I guess.
I'm in! I've done quite a few GRUME's but this is the first time I've committed to the full Year sabbatical. Let's see if I can save money this year!
