2019 Gold Dollar Mod Competition, Novice Class

Now is the time all B&B'ers have been waiting for! We all get to see what our fearless modders have made from a humble Gold Dollar straight razor. Please post your official entry pictures here. A poll will be opened July 8th and will close July 15th. To keep things simple please limit this thread to photos only. Discussions can continue in the main thread.

A special thanks to the BnB Moderator Team for supplying this years prizes!

Remember the best prize is the razor you have created. Good Luck!

All Finished
Scales are out of Purple Heart with a White G10 Liner
Removed the stabilizer and reshaped the heel and toe and done a little spine Work.
Honed on 1.5k Shapton Pro, 2k Shapton Pro, and then to Jnat Progression to Finish.
Shaved very well.

Thanks for letting me enter, I really enjoyed doing this project.

Scales made with Black Mother-of-Pearl Kirinite with orange Kirinite wedge. Depending on the light and viewing angle, it can look plain black, or have all of the silver swirls pop. I wanted it to match my favorite brush handle (made by the talented @CigarSmoka ). The spine was thinned quite a bit to bring the angle down for a better edge. Honed with Shapton 1.5k, Naniwa 5k, 8k, 12k.

The scales are made of walnut, with a CA finish, and a cumaru wedge. As I decided this would be a father's day gift for my father, I acid etched his initials into the blade.

Really nice razors here!
Good job!
I hope I can join in the next competition, I'm just not on the level you guys are at.

These look great!

@Monoxide that is really pretty wood you used on those scales.

@Dryphter that’s a cool black razor. The blued tang goes well with the overall look.

@bpm5cm the matching scale wedge angle and blade french point angle is very creative.

Wow well done to all those are beautiful gold Dollars, great work to each and everyone of you..... This is going to be a tough choice to vote upon.....

I have really missed taking part this year, but as the saying goes there is always next year to look forward to...
