Here is a picture of the first brush I bought around 1984-1985. I believe it is a Surrey brand boar bristle.
I used it every day for about 5 years and then bought a badger brush. For the past ten years I have kept it at my cottage where it gets used about 10-20 times a year. The bristles are quite soft on the ends even though the shafts are quite a bit stiffer than my boar brush. I really like this brush and hope it lasts another twenty years.
Also in the picture is a bowl made by a friend just for shaving soap and my 1956 Gillette Super Speed.
