1st shave with my whipped dog

I've just had my 1st WTG straight shave with a whipped dog unseen deal,it went OK with only a few weepers, I finished of with a DE. The main problem is the straight seem to tug a bit I'm sure is not the razor as I've only heard good things about Larry, any ideas.

Thanks in advance for you input.

Did you strop it before shaving? You might have dulled the edge a bit. The WD comes prestropped.
Did you have good lather? If I let the lather dry up or if I don't wash my face good (washing removes the oil which allows the water to soak into the whiskers), I get some pulling.

Skin stretching. I had issues stretching my skin at first (glasses got in the way), and if I didn't stretch the skin, I got some tugging.

Usually, when I start getting some pulling, I go 30 laps on the green side of the balsa, 30 laps on the red side, then 50 careful laps on the strop, and it straightens out the tugging.

This probably should have gone in the shave clinic forum, I'm assuming a mod will be along shortly to move it :)

No stropping before I shaved, lather was good maybe just wrong angle. I've reposted in shave clinic, I only noticed once I posted that it was it the wrong place. Mods please sort this for me.
Thanks.

That's a very common thing to experience. Much of that is the technique isn't there yet, and the rest is likely expectation: you'll feel it cutting whiskers, it won't just wipe them off. Check the "newbie straight shave" section, and I think you'll find similar responses regardless of who/where the razor was honed. Once you get the technique down, you'll appreciate the very tactile and audible feedback that a straight will give. Unless you have a wedge, then it will be a silent whisker-wiper :)
