1st Shave with a Ever Ready 1914

I recently picked up a ER 1914 off of the bay and used it today for the first time. All I can say is WOW! I found it to be very aggressive but smooth, I got a BBS without trying. It was my first shave with it and I'll be giving it a few weeks before I make a definitive statement about it but I will say it impressed me! I have a collection of ER's and GEM's and I'm looking forward to seeing where this one fits in. Thanks for listening :biggrin1:

Cool....one of my favorite blasts from the past. The '14 isn't a razor I try to classify into any best of list or whatever...Although it's definitely a highly rated razor in my eyes. What I enjoy most about it is that it's a razor that perhaps more than any other takes me way back in time.It lightweight and offers a lot of auditory and tactile feedback,it "floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee" :cornut:

Jay, what blades have you been using for your SE's? I'm pretty new (and way inexperienced) to SE's. I have 3 1912-style SE razors (Gem Junior, Star, Ever-Ready) that I haven't used yet and a Gem OCMM that I've "tried" a few times and haven't quite got the touch yet.

I love the ER's. They kind of get pushed out of the limelight to the GEM's, but in my book are highly regarded tools of the shaving trade  I love my cased shovelhead.

I use the Walgreens brand GEM Stainless Steel blades.
