1st Experience with Musgo Real Aftershave

WOW!

I've been a balm guy for the past several years and never thought that an aftershave splash would have a place in my den. But being a newb to DE shaving and this board, I picked up a couple items blindly, based on reviews and feedback I've read. I just finished shaving my head and face and reached for the Musgo Real, more or less expecting my face and head to end up having aftershave dripping from it. Nothing like that at all. I had a good amount in both hands and swiped my head and face in one motion. Whooomph! Instant face lift! The splash was soaked up as quickly as it hit my skin. So much so that I needed a little more for my neck.
This stuff is amazing! Thanks to everybody that posted comments anywhere in the forum regarding this stuff. One of the better purchases I've made in some amount of years. The scent is great too... :001_smile

I have both the splash and the Aftershave Balsam...truly outstanding products that are well worth the money. Razor burn has not a chance!!

As you have quickly discovered, Musgo Classic aftershave is a best in class product. From its price to its performance to its glorious scent, it is a winner all round. There are very few aftershaves of any stripe that even approach its performance, let alone surpass it. $22 is a superb price for what it brings to the game.

I see you are relatively new to the forum but I certainly don't know if you are new to shaving or at least traditional wet shaving. I can tell you this with a great bit of confidence; Superb shave lathers abound. Wonderful smelling colognes and toilette waters are a phone call away. Fantastic DE blades like Feather are just as easily attained. Yet the one type of product that is just as likely to be a complete flop as it is a hit, is aftershave. I mean it. An aftershave that is truly excellent+ is the HOLY GRAIL of wet shaving. And I am not being facetious either. Most aftershave splashes are either bottles full of perfumers alcohol with a nice or not so nice scent, depending on your likes, that really does not do much beneficial to your skin or balms that are simply too heavy in emollients for me unless it is really dry as in winter time. The SINGLE BEST aftershave I ever used was Vitaman from Australia. It was an aloe based gel with blue cypress extract in it. It was the most soothing, easily absorbed product I have tried. I was all set to use it exclusively as my a/s of choice. Then of course the formula changed (without notice of course) and it was nothing more than ho hum afterward. I was royally p***ed at that one. The closest substitute I have found is Musgo and I champion it unreservedly. Still, a/s is so subjective because each chap's skin reacts so differently to these types of products. Nowhere have I seen such a great disparity of review opinions as I have with aftershaves. When you find one that REALLY works, buy a few bottles or tubes or whatever form it comes in or you will regret it soon.

I've been using Musgo splash (thanks Jon!) for a month or so now. It really IS a great product. I like masculine barber shop type scents and this is right on the money. The performance is fantastic, too.

My regular splash rotation now includes A/V, Speick, Proraso, and Musgo. I rotate every day and these four are my workhorses. I can't decide which I like best between Speick, Proraso, and Musgo...they're all tied for number one. If I could get the scent and aloe of Musgo, with the super healing delights of Speick, and the peppy menthol zip of Proraso all in one splash I would have a lot more room in my medicine cabinet! But what fun would that be?

Here is an idea that I picked up in a video of Mantic getting a shave from a barber. I like L'Occitane Cade aftershave balm that comes in a tube but it is just to thick and it feels greasy when you put it on even in small amounts. So I just put a little on my palm then hit it with Musgo AS and mix it by putting my hands together and kinda mixing it and then applying it to my face. It is awesome, Cade doesn't have a lot of smell and with Musgo it penetrates and at the same time you get all the benefits of Musgo.

I love Musgo!

Later,
Richard
