1956 British #59 razor set

Similar to the #58 in design, but the case is either blue or blue-green, and the razor is closer to the Rocket HD, but seems to have a rhodium-plated head -- at least it shines more like rhodium than nickel.

I had found the more blue cased set months ago, and then just found the 2nd set -- where the case looks more greenish than blue. But it may be the color has been modified due to the grit or some fading of the color. Strange how these Gillette colored cases have a strange tendency to either spot (the red #58), or fade.

The loop to hold the handle is like the one in the #58 set, but actually doesn't hold it in place as securely as the #58. Nevertheless, these #59 fraternal twin sets are very fine razors and look quite classy in my shave den.

Snap Jake !!!

Found this one yesterday. I'm not sure why Antique shops thing an old Gillette Bleu blade, soap/lather and whiskers makes them more valuable though

Case is blue colour on mine though not as dark as say the Aristocrat Jr blue , though you can see it's obviously had something rubbing against the top of the case or something.

Rocket HD local find 5 or 6 ( I can't remember which ), but my other two cased have the "standard" blue/clear hanging plastic case. ( Then again as my "obsession" "mellows" I'm completely losing count at the moment as I "discovered" last night I actually have 4 Aristocrat #16s (again all local finds ) :001_huh:

I suspect that the bubbling has to do with the metal case or glue underneath the outer material. All my razors with this sort of case seem to have these sort of blemishes to some degree.

I noticed too that the doors seemed to be shinier than my "normal" Rocket HDs. Always thought it was just an HD in another case but..............

You guys kill me. There must be vintage razor trees in your neighborhoods. I troll every antique/thrift shop I know and find nothing, nada.
