I received in the mail a 1920 ball end open comb from Gary H. At least I think its a 1920 Ball end.
Lathering up I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect. This was my first vintage and my first open comb. I sat there looking in the mirror for a solid 5 minutes working up the nerve to apply the blade to my face. When I finally did, it was glorious. Oh so glorious. I have never had such a shave in my life. I could feel the blade gently caressing my face moving down all the hair in its path.
When my first pass with the grain was complete, I quickly lathered my face for my across the grain run. Again I felt the blade moving down what little hair remained. When I was done, I rubbed my hand across my face. Smooth. The last time I felt something that smooth was the day my boys were born (15 seconds apart, but that's another story). I now know that the phrase smooth as a baby's bottom just isn't a saying, but something entirely possibly.
10/10 I would use this razor again. I don't know if it was the fact that it was vintage that got me the smooth face, or the open comb. I am going to find out which though! Thanks Gary H for making this possible!
