18 different British Gillette Aristocrat and Popular sets - a partial historic overview and my collector’s journey (pics galore)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your kind comments!

My personal finding on the individuality point is that if you stick to the well preserved specimens they are actually quite alike. I only ever had one specimen which shaved really poorly - and I couldn’t see what was wrong, seemed aligned and everything.

Excellent post on the vintage British Gillette Aristocrats! I purchased my first British Aristocrats (#21) two months after your initial purchase (May 2018). I searched all over the internet and even downloaded a copy of The Complete Gillette Collectors Handbook, to find out as much information as possible about the British Aristocrats. I would have loved to come across a post like yours. My love affair with British Aristocrats led me to purchase one from each generations, the #70, and the Gillette Popular #47 with the barber pole handle. Your research and posting of eye candy will greatly benefit collectors looking for this information. Thank you for sharing!

What a crazy Aristocrat day - this morning a seller accepted my offer on the rare 1st generation leather clad rhodium #20 set and this evening I was perusing the UK ebay and stumbled upon a great condition 3rd generation #15 set with the blue cloth interior. Had neither of these versions in my collection 17 hous ago :thumbup:

Bent center bar or center bar that is chopped down far enough will cause that.

Promised you guys to show them all when I received latest refurbishment pack back from CAP and Chris Evatt. Well, that came in today, absolutely superb work as always :001_tt1: 1 set (acquisition) still inbound from the UK but here goes some eyecandy - apologize for the bad lighting.
