15 Manly Smells

http://www.artofmanliness.com/2009/06/23/15-manly-smells/

For most of these I concur!

Hardware store
Shoe polish
cut grass - I think it's important to note that this isn't a gas fumed cut grass smell but just the smell of cut grass - I hate the smell of those two-stroke mowers and all that exhaust that sticks to you
sawdust
gunpowder
original old spice
scotch
campfire
barbershop
leather
pipe smoke
grandpa's chair - um, no - Ew!
gun cleaning solvent - unfortunately I'm not familiar with this one having grown up without guns around
charcoal
bowling alley

90 weight gear oil.

Nothing smells like it and once you have smelled it you never forget it. Defiantly not a girly smell

ummm... question...

Where's the VEG?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Also, I can still remember the way my Grandpa's old chair smelt. Sigh. I miss that old chair... and Grandpa.

What about bad breath? That's what I typically smell around most men, especially older men, anytime I get within a couple feet of them.

$90 stinking dollars! Why not just buy a quart of Hoppe's No. 9 and wave a wet rag in the air?

Actually, I just might do that.

It's so manly, you can buy an air freshener with the scent of Hoppes No. 9. I agree on this scent, it was almost like a sacred ritual when my dad would lay out his rifles and let me help clean the barrels. I can smell the solvent as I type this.

Seriously the air freshener exists: http://www.amazon.com/Hoppes-H9AF-Air-Freshener-Pack/dp/B007ED76P8

HAH! I didn't even look at the price. I just slapped up the first link to show it, that is a ridiculous amount. But I do, however, approve of your frugal, yet elegant substitute!

thanks for reminding me, going to go clean some rifles tonight

Had the post been about 15 manly scents instead of 15 manly smells, there would have been several posts by now saying that smells have no gender, and that we've all been brainwashed by evil marketers.
Cheers,
