$14 dubl duck, Wise Purchase?--Lots of Pics

Well, I posted a couple of days ago about a dubl duck that I saw at a flea market for $14. The consensus from responses was that it was a great deal. Now, looking at it, I am not so sure. I would appreciate some advice.

Overall, the razor is in really good shape. The issue I have is that the blade seems to curve inward toward the middle. Does this look to be a problem? If so, is it something correctable? Hopefully, the pics will give you an idea. Thanks for any responses.

So now, when you go back , you can say it will cost you about $60 to remove the frown from the blade, you would really like it, but $74 seems a lot for a razor, would they take $8?

There is very little surface rust that I can see, the scales seem to be in good shape and the double duck inlay is in great shape. I think it is worth picking up and sending to one of the honemeisters on this board for a little corrective work. if you decide not to purchase it, please let the board know where the market is, so someone else can maybe try to get it.

I already bought it, but to be honest I didn't quite know what to look for. I did notice the blade defect, but I hoped it would be fixable. I am glad to hear that it can be corrected.

I'm fairly new here, and I am aware that there are several good people on the board. Any suggestions as to who I might contact?

OK, I contacted LarryAndro...nice guy and he replied immediately. He linked me to a thread with pics of another frowning razor much worse than mine that he repaired. Wow! He suggested that if I wanted to get the razor polished and cleaned before I sent it to him for honing that would be best.

Can anyone point me to a member in that direction? Polish the blade and clean the scales, then off to Larry and I should have a very nice razor.

Thanks for all of the help!

The frown is promnent but not too bad. You are only gonna lose maybe 1/16" of the blade width. You will end up with quite a nice razor, indeed.

By all means, polish first, before honing. Any damage to the edge is inconsequential, since the current edge is to be removed.

If you're interested, I can clean that one up for you for free, just pay shipping each way. PM me if you're interested. I'll be gentle with it.

Danjared, I sent you a PM. What a nice offer!

Once polishing is done, LarryAndro is going to get it.

Great group of people on this forum!
