New razor came today. 11/16" Joseph Elliot's Fine India Steel Patent Concave. It shaves very well, the honemeister did a great job.

Is there a way to determine the approximate date range of when it was made? From what I've been able to find, it appears to be pre-1856, as it does not have "Sons" included in the stamp.

Like many of you, I enjoy the history as much as the razors themselves. It's partly the reason why I got into wet shaving, and it certainly feeds my addiction of acquiring more and more razors.

Do any of you have a Joseph Elliot's? In your opinion, how do they compare to other vintage razor makers?

Very nice. Here is a picture of mine. I know it is pre-1892, but I have never narrow down the date. It still has the original black horn scales with lead wedge. It was restored before I purchased it.
