    Neck XTG - Any ideas?

Thanks to all! Slowly making some progress, so far blind strokes while extending my neck seem to be the way to go. Dont trust myself enough for Scything / J hooking and laying down on the floor is a bit more than what I'm willing to do for a BBS :D

    Neck XTG - Any ideas?

Thank you all for your advice gentlemen!! Great takeaways. At this point it's just a personal challenge :p I've been trying some blind strokes with neck hiperextension, think it may be the way to go! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

    Neck XTG - Any ideas?

I've found doing a big big skin stretch from just under my jaw line in an upward direction does expose "Some" of that underside and gotten a bit of an improvement but still BBS eludes me. Let's keep trying gents!

    Neck XTG - Any ideas?

Thanks y'all for your contributions so far! Good call Rumple, I gave that a shot but these *******' growth is just parallel to my chin! Tomo and Luke: There has to be a technique solution to it, I feel swapping tools is cheating :p

    Neck XTG - Any ideas?

Hey gents! I'm down to a point in which I'm very comfy shaving with a SR and can achieve good results consistently. There is just the one thing keeping me from BBS, and that is a fun stripe of hair that grows in my neck horizontally, starting at the external part of the neck towards the center...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Eaaaaaasy Slash!!! I fully knew (due to your amazing videos and posts!) that it's sacrilege to put paste in a strop if you care about them. I have two balsa strops but keeping them flat is a bit of a challenge so I figured I'd give this one a try. Believe me, it's absolutely bad bad bad :p

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Cheers! I just wanted the 1k as I can't get lapping film locally and trying to set it up with my 9 didn't work before. They were cheap as, and the leather stop is now my pasted strop! Learned a lot about working with this warped blade, looking forward to getting my peen hammer and be able to get...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Cheers for the contributions gents. Learning a lot from everyone! PS: This is the stone I used! Knife Sharpening Stone Kit, Finew Professional Whetstone Sharpener Stone Set, Premium 4 Side Grit 400/1000 3000/8000 Water Stone, Non-slip Bamboo Base, Flatting Stone, Angle Guide and Leather Strop...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Hey Global! I definitely got your pic (How not to, it was clear as water!!) But the difference in bevel size eluded me. Thanks for pointing it out! Live update on the shave - It's the sharpest thing I've shaved with (not counting the shavette). Man my bar must be low :( Edit, live update 2...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thank you all kind gents for your feedback!! Slash: I'm honing on hand with no finger on top of the blade I lapped it using a so called "lapping stone" for lack of a big glass surface to level it with (and inability to get one during lockdown). I'll give the sharpie a shot for sure! Ryan: Will...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thanks a lot for this! Re using both hands while honing - What seems to indicate this? I've only used the one as per the method's post. I'll definitely keep the xstrokes in mind moving forward, the whetstone I'm using for the bevel is quite narrow while the lapping film is quite broad for sure...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thank you all for your views! Learning a lot just from this interchange alone. Update: Took the blade through a 12, 9,5,3,1 lapping film progression, no shaving is possible. Global: Thank you for checking the pic so thoroughly. I'm not very experienced with honing. I've managed to get a few...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thanks mate! I'm doing some research on the TNT as I have never used it before, but from your feedback and everyone's so far cutting hair isn't the end all be all! I may reset and take it through the progression once again and see where I end up. EDIT: Can confirm it definitely digs into a nail...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thanks Xmacro! Can confirm that post has been followed to the tee, and thus when "After successfully and correctly using the method, the bevel will pass all the standard bevel tests such as thumbnail, cherry tomato, forearm shaving, etc" isn't met, I started to worry! I'd love to know more...

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Thanks!!! May I add, I've set the bevel correctly on other razors I've got (and have shaved with them afterwards!) Definitely noted tho. Cheers :D

Failing at setting the bevel correctly

Hey all! I'm pretty puzzled as I've been consistently failing to set the bevel on my very first SR. I got this a few years ago, and seldom got to use it as it was not shave ready (which I ignored back in the day). Quite a few years have passed and I wanted to hone it, however I'm failing at...
