Yes, the nagura stones were rather nice (especially the Tenjou), and at a good price. I'm sure they'll be happy in their new home. :)
The straight razors are still available for today. If there's no interest here by tomorrow afternoon, then I'll likely send them over to eBay. Gotta buy my new...
I'm clearing space and raising funds for new fly fishing gear, so I'm offering a few of my straight razors and natural JNAT nagura stones.
1. JNAT Nagura Set (3 stones). This matched/assembled set was originally purchased from Alex @ thejapanstone, and it includes the usual three-stone set of...
Man oh man! That Y/G Escher is awesome! Congratulations!
Once, when I was very new to straights back in the summer of 2008, I was visiting a large local outdoor flea market. It's a place I'd visited for months and found many, many DE treasures for $5 or less. On this one particular day, there...
I grew up in the VA Beach area. Sadly, I'm now living in SC. However, I agree with your idea of finding someone local to hone your razors. It's a wise move. Not because of the saved shipping costs, but because you'll learn a TON by simply watching (if they'll let you watch, that is). My first...
Also offering this lovely little barber size vintage unlabeled Escher-type Thuringian with Y/G rubber stone in original (wildly tattered) bright green paper box. (Red Imp straight razor not included.)
Price is $175.
OK, so I'm addicted to my newest JNAT. (Thanks, Aaron!) And to make room for buying many new tomo to play with, I'm offering my smaller Pocket Rocket for sale as well as a full set of nagura, including a lovely little Koma.
1. The JNAT Nakayama Pocket Rocket with the orange racing...
I've used the same Muhle Silvertip synthetic brush for a few years now, and it's a fantastic alternative to the badger. Whoever buys it, will be glad they did. Good luck with the sale. :)
I agree. I love the Old Rock and Deep Rock stones for their 5x2.5" sizes; for manganese madness, I prefer the Salm Cotis. ;)
(Tho I've seen more than a few of the OR and DR stones that have the manganese lines.)
UPDATE: I just found two very similar Gillettes on Achim's website (Hi, Achim!) -- the 1976 W4 Democrat and the 1976 W2 Depilex-Razor. I wonder why Gillette made so many variations. Hmm...
God bless you, Achim, for keeping such a wonderful Gillette archive.
It's been a long time since I was shaving with DEs and collecting/cataloging all the various Gillette Super Speed models, and I'm hoping that you guys can help me solve a puzzle.
My curiosity got the best of me recently, and I picked up this little NOS 1979 Z1 Gillette Super...
I'm in love with my new Corto! I questioned the shorter length before using it, then measured my normal stropping technique on my TM. I only ever used 12" anyway. The Corto is beautiful, well-made, and a pleasure to use. Thanx, Jose.
