I started with a Merkur 23C, a bowl of Derby shave soap, a Wilkinson Sword brush bought locally, and 100 Astra SP/ 100 Derby Premium Blades. Still use all of it some times, except the Derby soap, it's long gone, first soap I 3017'ed.
I will say that Derby Premiums in my GC Jaws took my overgrown sideburns down to DFS in one swipe. I'll try them on the rest of my face tomorrow.
That having been said, the worst blade I used is the Merkur. Awful.
Dorco Prime Platinum. Dirt cheap in North America, and a great blade. Of course, YMMV as with any blade, but they work well for me in every one of my razors I've tried it in, GC .68 and .84, Rockwell 6C with plates 4,5, and 6, and my Progress. Haven't tried it in my Mamba yet, or my Qshave...
