9/26: Dropped my razor into a cast iron sink. Concerned about damage I gave it a try: 1949 Ball-handle Tech, Personna Blue, unknown soap, AOS badger, Old Spice. No damage, beautiful BBS. Next shave: Schick J
Wet shaving can be almost free: 1949 Tech, found in drawer (free)(or the SuperSpeed I bought for $1.99 in 1974); Lord Plat (3 cents); VDH boar brush ($4); soap scraps from soap dish (free); discarded yogurt container lathering bowl (free); Old Spice ($5). Enjoyable BBS everytime
9/17: 1949 Gillette Ball-handle Tech, Personna Blue, unknown soap, VDH boar, Old Spice. Found some hand soap leftover from trip to Watkins Glen. Made a great lather; BBS shave. Next shave: 1953 Schick G
Often less is more. I’ve used Feathers and Kais and had terrible shaves. I don’t need my face torn off. I get BBS everytime with medium sharp blades like the various Lords and Personnas in medium exposure razors. Always great shaves and never a nick. Good technique is, perhaps, the most...

I can get BBS from a Krona but I have to work at it. It has a cutting angle different than any other DE. It shaves best if the head is almost perpendicular to the face, perhaps 10 or 15 degrees off. Perhaps not coincidentally, it’s very nearly the same angle that a Schick injector shaves best.
9/10: VDH TTO, Rainbow SS, Irish Spring, AOS Badger, Aqua Velva. Second shave w the Rainbow in an underperforming razor. The Rainbow brought the old VDH alive; a great shave, BBS. I’m going to use the same next time.
I’m a fan of Lord products. After being cheated on the Bay in an attempted Shark purchase, I went back in and bought 100 Rainbow Super Stainless on a bit of a flyer. The reviews of this blade are all over the map so I was a little apprehensive. Today, I loaded a Rainbow into my Lord Racer and...
