Artisan soap makers that are/have closed shop

Ironically for me, after shaving off a full beard which I had for 6 months (heresy, I know), I get on line to see if I can find your storefront and instead find this post. Oh well...it's not like I *need* any more soap, but this morning I pulled out a wonderful sample you had sent to me a long...

    I'm in love with Voskhod

The wonderful Voskhod is in my top 3, and is the blade I use that performs the best in nearly all of my razors.

    Hyper-miling your shaving soaps

The products I use are cheap enough, and my supplies large enough, that there's no reason for me not to be decadent in the use of my shave supplies. While I find no fault with those who want to scrimp and save and not waste even a bubble of lather, but that's not me.

    Any Runners in the House?

Yes, asphalt. Trail running is very popular around here so when I mention the name of the race, people often think I'm talking about trail running, like in the woods, hence the qualifier. This particular trail is a rails-to-trail project.

    Any Runners in the House?

My first marathon is in the books! I ran the Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon (paved trail) Saturday and finished in 4:09 and change. I had an Achilles strain 5 weeks before the race that took me out for about 3 weeks, missing one 20 mile run and a total of 55 miles of training. I had been able to...

    Any Runners in the House?

So how did it go? Did your knee cause you any trouble?

    Any Runners in the House?

That is fantastic! Good luck!! FWIW, I had my knee scoped out several years ago and surprisingly, my running hasn't been affected by it. I expected it to limit my miles. My marathon training was going very well until last weekend. I had my second 20 mile run and felt strong the whole route...

    Any Runners in the House?

I may be too optimistic, but I signed up for a full marathon May 14th, nearly a year to the day since I started running. I had planned to wait until 2017 when I'll have many more miles underfoot before I tried one but my October half marathon, and the training leading up to it, went so well...

    Any Runners in the House?

You didn't ask about this, and you may already know this, but one thing I would recommend is work on increasing your stride rate (shortening your stride) if you haven't already. The shorter the stride, the less time in the air, and the less impact to your joints. "They" say that the optimal...

    Any Runners in the House?

I'm running an untimed 6K turkey trot with my daughter. I have no idea why it's a 6K. It was a 5K last year. My daughter hasn't been running much so I'll be using it as a training run and pacing her. I'm in it more for her than for me. The temperature is supposed to be around 26F at race...

    Any Runners in the House?

I had a fantastic HM Saturday. The day started with heavy rain and 45°F, but the rain turned into a mist by race time. My goal was to break 2:00 so I was planning on running a 9:00 pace with even splits. The first mile was 8:44 and I tried slowing down but all I could manage was 9:52 for the...

What's the worse soap you've used?

Ah, I see, thanks for the explanation. I'm familiar with the technique but haven't heard that term before, perhaps because I've been away from the forum for a while.

What's the worse soap you've used?

I don't know what you mean by "bloom" your soaps. Even if I was able to get acceptable lather, they still burn the hell out of my face and have overpowering scents. I tossed what I had and have no interest in trying them again, or any melt & pour for that matter.

What's the worse soap you've used?

A few no-name "artisan" soaps my sis-in-law sent me Modern Williams Mama Bear These all come to mind.

    Vintage soap anyone?

The soap imprint is that of Provence Sante, which still makes soap today which looks very much like what you have there. It's hard to say from here if it's vintage or not but it *looks* like soap still in production. Some folks save vintage soap to collect, and some use it. Personally, it's...

    Any Runners in the House?

Good running on your half! I'm doing my first half marathon on October 31st. Training has gone very well. I haven't had any injuries since early July and have built up to an 18 mile long run. I put in 15 miles yesterday and will now start to taper down. When I first signed up for this race...

    Any Runners in the House?

I had a great running weekend. Saturday I ran a 5K and crushed my previous PR, going from 30:13 to 26:32. The previous PR was just 7 weeks after I started running and the PR this past Saturday was 4.5 months after starting, so I expected to crush it, but I was thinking it would be in the 28...

    Any Runners in the House?

This new running habit of mine is coming along quite well. Started in early May, now training for a half marathon on October 30th but feel like I could finish one right now. This running is coming easier and easier. My long run is up to 10 miles and I'm going for 12 this weekend. My...
