    Finally tried Arko

Someone mentioned turning it into a stick earlier in the thread i belueve. I was quite intrigued. I differ from some others as i think i like the foil wrap of arko. Minimalist simplicity i suppose. I was thinking of trying to package a VDH stick that way. I do see the benefit of being...

    please help guys

This. I used to press hard and swirl fast and when I lightened up and slowed down, it seemed to produce a better lather for me.

Japanese style of shaving against the grain - what exactly is it?

Considering all the money wrapped up in tickets and vendors and all that goes along with sports.... I wonder where that money is or is going in the absence? I know people who live and breath sports. I have not talked to any recently but I suppose I need to see how they are coping LOL

Japanese style of shaving against the grain - what exactly is it?

And to address the topic, unless he has some sort of magic razor or oil or something..... my face would NOT put up with all that abuse. I always thought a barber shave would be relaxing but that looks about as relaxing as going to the dentist.

Japanese style of shaving against the grain - what exactly is it?

My apologies, I grew up in the country with no tv or sports to speak of.... but we had toys WITH MOTORS!

What is your go to comfort shave?

It is a fairly soft soap. I guess you know that, as I am pretty sure I have seen you post of using it. Anyway, from what I read, some "press" it into the bottom of a bowl and lather it like a puck. My shave last night, too, was with a Feather Popular. I like the razor, just have to pay more...

Japanese style of shaving against the grain - what exactly is it?

I thought it was the Honda wing. Maybe he is a dirt bike rider.

I have been putting a few drops of water on the top of the stick before I get in the shower to help soften before face lather. Last night I done the same but instead of face lathering, I rubbed the stick on the ridges in the bottom of my Captains choice lather bowl. Just a small amount of soap...

Mixed Metal Windsor with Copper Stand

I REALLY like the looks of the copper. Afraid now is not the time to be spending TP money on razors! HAHA It is a great looking razor though. Thanks for the info

I have not. Been eyeballing the La Toja..... once again because I see it mentioned here and think I must try it LOL. My mother was a religious cleaner and did so often and meticulously. I have always felt comforted by the smell of cleaning products :)

The end of the DE travel razor?

I have taken my DE without even realizing it might be an issue. Never had an issue. Some other things I have thought to be fine and caused a hold up. 1 item that always gets me at the air port and court house is my pocket knife. I have put a pocket knife on with my clothes everyday since I can...

Saw a thing on the web...made said thing for less haha

Excellent work. Build some jigs and fixtures, mass produce, sell at craft fairs, PROFIT! Or if your like me, say that was fun and never build another LOL. Very, very nice

Tweak or 2 on the arko procedure last night. Only my 2nd use of it. Another good experience. If this had been the 1st soap I had found, I likely would not have tried another. (<- HA sounds good right) Since I did and got to like the VDH so much, I just cannot drop it. To a first timer I would...

    Tornado Warning!

We have some tornados here in Kansas. Not as bad as Oklahoma recently. The sirens blow often with no resulting tornado. The tornados sneak in under cover of night and wreak havoc on the unsuspecting. Those things are nothing to scoff at. Glad you were unscathed.

Prometheus was the trickster, so perhaps it was his idea to make a terrific soap smell like a urinal! HAHA Was said in fun only. I do not see the urinal cake correlation nor do I find the scent off-putting period.

I use a bit of red cap cremo as "preshave". Started that because I wanted to try cremo and it did not make the cut for me as a stand alone product. BUt I decided to use it as a pre shave and I think it adds a certain something to the soap when you lather over it.

    Finally tried Arko

Yep. And for a first go, it was not disappointing. If I use it at home, I had figured to press it into the bottom of a mug as I feel like that is how it should be. Glad to hear about the scent easing up a bit. Thanks I had looked at those for the arko stick as it just seems it needs more secure...

Please tell me more about turning VDH into a stick? I have read about melting some and others that should not be melted.

My nose is probably so used to clubman that it was super sensitive to the new scent and was honed in on it, trying to figure out what was different. I agree, not objectionable at all.
