    Turkey Questions

I've done it in my regular Weber kettle a few times. Its pretty hard to screw up. I think we targeted 300-350, but since it was a weber kettle, we didn't really control it that tightly.

    Vegan Booze

I use gelatin as a timing agent in the beer I brew. I’d say most large breweries are filtering though. If someone coming to my house had those exacting standards, they better bring their own drink. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Reservations

hm, I've never had that problem when I make a reservation. I mean, they don't scrape and grovel at my feet or anything, but in my experience my table is usually ready, even if we show up 20 min before our reservation (unless its a later seating). I did have a weird experience last weekend. We...

Quality work boot or shoe that is security friendly?

I have to wear safety toes at work. We just came up on our yearly free pair. I picked up a pair of Keens. I've never worn their safety shoes before, but I like their hiking shoes. I don't have the box in front of me, but I'm pretty sure they are composite toe.

    First automatic

I love my Seiko 5! From what I've read, when Seiko says " water resistant to 30 meters", really means don't get it wet. I wouldn't worry about washing hands, or accidentally dunking it or even getting it wet in the shower every once and a while. Watch forum people seem to say don't swim with...

Walter Becker of Steely Dan Passed Away At 67

I just saw the news. Steely Dan is hands down one of my favorite groups. Whether it's driving down the highway listening to Can't Buy a Thrill, chilling at home listening to Aja or randomly hearing Rilki Don't lose that number in the grocery store. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do you feel about the death of cursive handwriting?

Interesting. We have pretty much the exact same path, except now at 31 I've delved down the road of re-learning script. Is there a particular script or book you found useful to relearn? I've been focusing on writing more in my notebook at work instead of writing notes on my laptop. I also have a...

    Dinner guests who don't eat...

Thats actually how I've seen either picky eaters or people with certain dietary restrictions handle the issue. They offer to bring some sort of side. It always complies with their restrictions, so if what you are serving doesn't work for them, they at least have something to eat.

    Memphis Meats??

Ive been following their progress for about a year now. I think the technology is pretty awesome. Seeing as how meat production is so bad for the planet, I can see something like this really taking off in the future. I've also seen some people who are Vegan say they would be willing to try this...

    Boxed Wine

IMO, there is boxed wine, and then there is wine that happens to come in a box. The former are the cheap wines like Franzia. The latter being regular wines. Bota Box, Big House, Black Box, and a few others I can't remember. Certainly these are not wines you are going to stick in the cellar...

    Food you hate to love

Its got to be Mayo for me. I just love the stuff. I'll slather a ton on a single slice of bread and fold the sucker in half for snack. I'll dip chips in it. Spread it on some lunch meat and roll it up. Put it on grilled corn. I love it on everything. It has to be Dukes though. Or any other...

What are the downsides to living in an unconventional home?

It looks like a product of the 70s, but other than that, looks like a nice home. The insides need a major paint job, but everything else looks fairly well updated. I'd rethink that entry stair area, and do some landscaping around the house itself. I think the size of the property, and that great...

Recommend me a pair of 6 inch dress boots?

The Liverpool chelsea is $349 at shoebank.com (allen edmonds seconds site). If you wait for their sales (their next one will probably be around 4th of july), you might be able to take a little more off. Be sure to check out Ebay too. You could probably get a used pair under $200 if you are...

    Boat shoes with socks

I agree with everyone else. No socks. for casual shoes, I almost exclusively wear boat shoes. Especially in the summer. They work well with shorts, jeans or a decent pair of slacks for a casual night in town. I own Sebago Docksiders. They are definitely a bear to break in. They didn't take...

Question about dress pants: pleated fronts or straight?

If you like the pants, you may be able to get a tailor to remove the pleats. It may be a little expensive if thats the only reason you need to have them tailored. If they are pleated, they are probably cuffed too. Go ahead and take those cuffs out while you are at it!
